(absolutely, pretty good)
RECRUITER:
- recruiters have no idea of the profession and the position
- to you: recruiter's job is to submit your resume to the hiring manager
- you tell them YES/NO PROBLEM/SURE/ABSOLUTELY - never SCARE them
- HIRING manager (not a recruiter) should decide if you are good enough to have an interview
- Have a well-developed sense of a successful ($$$) candidate
- confidence (no doubts)
== talk when you stand (not sit)
== look into mirror and SMILE
- good enough English skills
- positive/can-do attitude
- energy
- for a permanent position they are on your side
- Do not count their money, just yours
- NEVER go over recruiter's head

($40-45 говорить так)
NO - it depends on what you want me to do
NO - I am open
NO - Market price
NEVER COUNT THEIR MONEY
How far would you commute? (you might quit sooner) (добираться ответы)
- I used to drive for an hour one way and I am OK with that
- I would normally move closer to the job, I have no problem with where it is
- I really want to relocate to Boston - my mom lives there
- 30-45 minutes commute is fine
- within 1 hour is fine
- I am ok with longer commute for 3-4 months and if the company offers me a permanent position I am willing to relocate.
NOT - I am a good driver
NOT - 90+ minutes
Why are you on the market now? (References: is that person eligible for rehire? Did he depart voluntarily?)
Good reasons:
- lay off
- project was outsourced to Brazil
- end of project
- looking for an opportunity to grow professionally
- company relocates to Florida and I do not want to leave Chicago
What is your Visa status?
* Legally they cannot discriminate a person on the ground of employment authorization type
- I am a US Citizen
- I have a green card (what kind? - through marriage)
- If you have EAD (employment authorization document) (refuge status- tell recruiters (DICE profile) - I have a green card (scan EAD, remove the number - send them) - works 80-90%
если по полит убежищу - говорить что I have a Greencard.
Can I get your SSN (4 last digits)
- Sure
- give them real 4 digits
- give them any random 4 digits.
DO NOT say it is a privacy matter.
Are you willing to relocate?
- If the position is permanent I am OK with relocating
- Sure - just give me the job offer to move me
- Do not say NO - it gives you the interview opportunities
How soon you are available?
- In the ideal world I would give 2 weeks notice to my current employer
But, my project is coming to an end and my manager knows I am on the market.
He told me it is ok to terminate immediately if the position is red hot
I will finish a few things over the weekend if it comes to that
For how long have you been on the market? (too long, difficult to place)
- Just started today/yesterday
- I started 2 weeks ago and I already have 2 job offers from California. I just do not want to move to California.
NO - 3+ months
Can I get your references? (might ask for 3, but 2 is normally ok)
- Sure - Name, Title, Company, Email, Phone
- NOT say give me the job offer first
How would you rate your knowledge of HTML (whatever) on the scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest
- measures your CONFIDENCE - not knowledge
- 7-8
- I am pretty good. Let's send my resume to the hiring manager, so we will see if I know enough for that position.
What type of work (remote/hybrid) you are looking for?
- I have no preferences
- I see lots of benefits in both remote and office jobs - so, I am open
- I would not mind to work out of the office for 2-3 days a week with the rest done remotely
