Motivation
The desire to improve humanity is at the center of my motivation and actions. Throughout my years, I engaged myself in activities that made me strive to better the society. I joined the society of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) to contribute to humanity technologically and academically. I have attended several international academic conferences across Africa, Asia and Europe to share knowledge, connect with leaders in the industry and academics, and to learn about the latest trends in technology. I also joined the society of St. Vincent de Paul (SSVP) to offer humanitarian help to the less privileged. Combining the charism in SSVP with my desire to improve lives, I headed the opening of SSVP branches in Imo State University, Alvan Ikeokwu College of Education, and Assumpta Cathedral Parish. The three branches have been active in charity since 2014 with a combined membership of over fifty people, and have touched over 1,000 lives. I received an award of exemplary commitment to charity from SSVP. I built the first volleyball court, to improve the recreation experience of students at Government Girl’s Day Secondary School Hadejia. I also produced the school’s first yearbook with the support of the school management in 2016, during my national youth service year, in Jigawa State. These contributions earned me an award of excellence by the school management. I organized tutorials to support the research excellence of my fellow students. Because of the vast knowledge base required to carry out successful research in a research institution like KIT, many students including me, find it extremely difficult at the beginning. To alleviate this, I invited more knowledgeable resource persons in common areas of interest to anchor the tutorials weekly. This immediately translated into visible progress in our research works.
Abilities
Atop having an A1 in mathematics, I acquired a bachelors in Physics, to enable me consolidate my understanding of universal behavior. As a physicist I learnt about the most fundamental structures and constituents of the universe, and their energy interactions overtime. Specializing in Industrial Physics offered me an introduction into ways of manipulating physical properties of matters and waves for human advantage. The innovations in industries are currently inclined towards Information Technology (IT), which spurred my decision of master's in IT Engineering. In the course of my research, project and course work I learnt many software. Listed here are some: Web3, JavaScript and Solidity for Blockchain implementation, Python programming language skill for LSTM machine learning (deep neural networks), SQL for database manipulation, R language for big data analytics, MATLAB and basic Simulink, for network simulation, LaTex and MS Word for text editing, HTML and CSS for Web development, PowerPoint for Image making, presentation and animation, Excel for spreadsheet.
Leadership
I work very well with people and have led several organizations at various capacities and that has taught me what is expected from a leader and a follower. I served as president of the St. Vincent de Paul FUTO conference for one year (2010-2011). In this position I organized meetings, organized charity and social activities, and represented the conference in higher council meetings. I served as treasurer of IEEE student branch FUTO from 2011-2012. In this position I was in charge of the funds for practical implementations and tutorials. I served as the station Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON), from 2013-2016. In this position I was responsible for the circulation of information among members, and society activity to the public. I served as secretary of Agro-allied Community Development Society (CDS) during my National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) 2015-2016. In this position I was responsible for keeping records of the society’s discussions and activities. I served as the provost of station CYON from 2016-2018. In this position I was responsible for maintaining peace and order during youth activities. I have also headed many committees to achieve their various goals.
Early Work experiences
I have garnered experience from works, internships and volunteers. I gained experience at Power Holding Company of Nigeria (Distribution), Owerri Main. While I was with them I worked in various departments including Protection Control and Metering (PC&M), where I was involved in the process to install, operate, and repair all substation metering equipment, current and potential transformers, relays, recloses and other protection devices, as well as recording and data monitoring device. In the lines department, I was involved in reconnecting lines (220 volts), preventing wire tangling, ensuring enough clearance to prevent earthing of electricity by trees, and preventing wire sagging. In the maintenance department, I was involved in maintaining high tension wires (11,000 volts and 33,000volts), installations of pot (ceramic) insulators, installation of disc (ceramic and glass) insulators, and maintenance of injection substations. I also gained experience at Power Holding Company of Nigeria (Transmission), Egbu road Owerri. Where I was exposed to transmission substation and gantry maintenance routines.
I worked at EMI Abuja Nigeria in 2017 as a technician. In that position I was responsible for the installation and maintenance of security cameras, security alarm system, doors access control, Ethernet networking and fault troubleshooting. I was involved in bollard maintenance services and NFC card programming.
I worked at Government Girls Day Secondary School Hadejia, Jigawa State, Nigeria from 2015-2016 as a physics teacher for SS2 science classes. In that position I was responsible for the teaching and development of notes. I was also in charge of setting student assignments and exams, marking exam scripts, recording the results, giving commendations and counseling based on students' performance.
I am currently working with Networked Systems Lab, Kumoh National Institute of Technology as a researcher starting from 2018. In this position I have been involved in projects like life bed which is aimed to achieve stress detection wearable device for soldiers, and synchronization of this wearable device with a monitoring station, avionics project which is aimed to achieve a suitable wireless network architecture for device connectivity in aircraft, and 3D printing monitoring for early detection of error during printing. I am responsible for journal paper writing and conference presentation. My research interests in IT engineering spans across topics such as Blockchain, IoT, load balancing, and Hybrid networks.
Extracurricular activity.
I often exercise for recreation. I like playing football (soccer) even as a little boy. I spend most of my break time on the football field. I was even part of the primary school football team. I also played for my house (Pyknut) in the secondary school inter-house sports. I also like riding bicycles, for exercise. Apart from using cycling as exercise I use it for adventures and sightseeing. On one occasion I covered about 80km within 4hrs. I also exercise by running usually around 3.5km daily.
In addition to exercises I also engage in other activities. I enjoy playing Scrabble both as fun and as competition. Recently I started playing chase, but am still an amateur. I like visiting new places and traveling. The thing I enjoy most about the above mentioned activities is that they let me meet new people and make new friends.
