This symposium will be held online using Zoom.
Registration
1. You need to register at the following website as soon as possible.

Zoom Connecting Test (optional)
2. You are strongly encouraged to join either of the following two Zoom connecting test sessions.
(1) Thursday, September 9, 2021, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. JST (GMT+8:00)
(2) Friday, September 10, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. JST (GMT+8:00)
3. The meeting secretariat will contact you with the URL for the connecting tests a few days before the connecting tests.
Sharing Presentation Materials (optional)
4. Please submit your handouts whenever possible to Kexin XIONG (xiongkexinkuma@gmail.com) prior to
the symposium.
5. They will be made available on the symposium website for viewing only (no downloading or printing) until September 20.
6. The file should be named as “Presentation Number, Last Name”, e.g. [11-1 Polinsky].
7. You can also submit your presentation data (e.g. PowerPoint files) to Kexin XIONG
(xiongkexinkuma@gmail.com) in advance as a backup in case of problems with the Internet or Zoom connection.
Delivering Presentation
8. Please prepare your presentation in English.
9. Please access to the Zoom meeting at least 30 minutes prior to your presentation.
10. The meeting URL will be notified by the meeting secretariat a few days before the symposium starts.
11. Please set your Zoom Display Name as “Presentation Number, First Name, Last Name, (Affiliation)”,
e.g. [11-1 Maria Polinsky (U of Maryland)].
12. Please have your presentation file pulled up and ready to share on your computer before you are called to present.
This will prevent others from having to wait for you to search for your presentation when it is your turn.
13. You may distribute your handouts (downloadable materials) in the chat window.
14. Start the presentation when the moderator instructs you to do so.
15. Presentation time is as follows:
Keynote speech: 45 minutes for presentation, 13 minutes for Q&A
General presentations: 20 minutes for presentation, 8 minutes for Q&A
16. The timer displayed on the Zoom screen allows you to check the elapsed time of the presentation.
17. The committee informs the time course of your presentation by using a bell as follows.
Keynote speech: 1st ring (40 min), 2nd ring (45 min), 3rd ring (58 min)
General presentations: 1st ring (15 min), 2nd ring (20 min), 3rd ring (28 min)
18. Please be sure to finish your talk in time.
Q&A Sessions
19. During Q&A sessions, you may use Japanese in addition to English.
20. All questions and comments will be posted in the chat window.
21. Please choose and answer as many questions and comments as time permits.
22. Before responding to a question or comment, read out or summarize the question or comment to let the audience
know what is being discussed.
Recording and Webcasting
23. The symposium will be recorded, and the presentations (excluding Q&As) will be made available on the
symposium website for viewing only (no downloading) for one week after the symposium.
