Designation: Research Engineer
Experience: March 28, 2000 - January 12, 2004 (about 4 years)
Synopsis: I worked with the C-DoT, New Delhi, India as a Research Engineer in the Switching Software Division. I was a member of the Protocol Enhancements team responsible for development and support of Signaling System 7 in C-DoT's Digital Switching System (C-DoT DSS) during the period from March 28, 2000 to January 12, 2004. I played very important and crucial roles in various projects mainly focused on the MTP3 layer (Message handler and Network Manager) and MTP2 layer (Data Link Control) of the SS7 protocol stack design, development and enhancement activities.
Some of the important projects were:
Support and Enhancement of Fault Tolerance Techniques for the SS7 Signaling Unit in C-DoT's DSS.
Support and Enhancement of Diagnostic Software for the SS7 Signaling Unit in C-DoT's DSS.
Support and Enhancement of Database Updation Software for SS7 Signaling Unit in C-DoT's DSS.
Support, Enhancement, and Development of MTP3 layer in C-DoT DSS:
Message Handler: It is responsible for the handling of the signaling units (called messages) to be delivered to the other nodes in SS7 network or to the proper application part (SCCP, TCAP, MAP, etc) depending upon the routing level information.
Network Management: It is the heart of the SS7 protocol stack. It is responsible for the Link Management, Traffic Management as well as Route Management.
Support and Enhancement of the MTP2 layer as an interface with the MTP3 layer of SS7 protocol stack implementation in C-DoT DSS.
Development and Enhancement of MTP3 layer for a generic SS7 protocol stack in C-DoT DSS.
Study and Development of GPRS project for a generic SS7 protocol stack in C-DoT DSS.
Adaptation of the Trillium Advanced Portability Architecture (TAPA) as a part of GPRS development activity in C-DoT DSS.
Debugging, Testing and Maintenance of MTP3 and MTP2 field-related problems: In this activity, various problems are reported from the different TAX, exchanges. Those problems are fixed, patched and tested in well-equipped labs in C-DoT and finally those patches are fed to the sites lively.
