March 2025: Climate Studies IIT Bombay awarded a ₹3.2 crore grant from the National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS) to predict hail fall in five districts in Himachal and Uttarakhand.
7-20 March, 2025: Ravichandran visits the Earthquake Research Institute (ERI), University of Tokyo, for a research collaboration on volcanic lightning.
12-16 February 2025: Fluid Dynamics Group members visit IIT Madras for the conference Mixing and Dispersion in Rotating and Stratified Flows (MADRAS) 2025.
29-30 January 2025: Fluid Dynamics Group members visit IIT Hyderabad for the Inter-Group Meeting (IGM) 2025.
Our group is part of the Centre for Climate Studies at IIT Bombay.
We study fluid dynamical phenomena in the atmosphere and the ocean, focussing on small length and time scales which can be studied using high-resolution numerical simulations. These length and time scales are, and will probably remain, unresolved in global climate models. High resolution studies are thus essential in order to understand, and better parameterise, the dynamics on these scales.
