Prof. S. A. Soman

S. A. Soman is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India. He has authored a book on Computational Methods for Large Sparse Power System Analysis: An Object Oriented Approach (Kluwer, 2001). His research interests and activities include power system analysis, deregulation, and power system protection.

Prof. L. Umanand

Prof. Umanand obtained his M.Tech degree in 1989 in the field of Electronics Design. Later he completed his Ph.D. in the area of control for high performance induction motor drives in 1996. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore-560012.

His major research interests are in photo-voltaic system design, power converters, bond graph modeling of power electronic systems, high performance control of induction motor, designing for reliability and hybrid electric vehicles.

Dr. Praveen Vijayraghavan

Praveen Vijayraghavan got his BE degree from R.V. College of Engineering in 1991. He then got his M.S. Degree in Systems and Controls Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and his Doctorate from Virginia Tech in Electrical Engg. His dissertation was on the Design of Switched Reluctance Motors and Drives.

He subsequently returned to India and has been working in Integrated Electric Co. In Bangalore since 2002. Currently he is a Director in this company.

Praveen is a member of the National Steering Committee of National Mission on Power Electronic Technologies under MIETY as well the Chairman of the Sub-committee on Advanced Research. He is also currently the Chairman of the Rotating Machines and Drives Group of IEEMA.
