The IIPFP demands that the UN Global Plastics Treaty:
• Upholds the rights, sovereignty, self-determination, and political participation of Indigenous Peoples', as affirmed in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
• Effectively addresses the full-life cycle of plastics from extraction and production to pollution, with significant, legally-binding, and enforceable measures to reduce the extraction of feedstocks for and the production of plastics and associated chemicals.
• Recognises and takes measures to support and resource Indigenous Peoples' as leaders in ending plastic pollution, while ensuring Indigenous Peoples' retain full autonomy over Indigenous knowledge and science systems and their contributions.
