The International Indigenous Peoples' Forum on Plastics (IIPFP), formalised in 2024, is a global body of Indigenous Peoples' participating in UN Global Plastics Treaty processes and the official caucus for IP attending INC meetings.
Members of the IIPFP have been involved in the UN Global Plastics Treaty since UNEA-5.2 and have maintained a strong presence at all subsequent INC meetings. The IIPFP now represents all seven UN-recognized socio-cultural regions and works to develop shared positions amongst Indigenous Peoples' to inform the development and implementation of the UN Global Plastics Treaty.
As participation of Indigenous youth increased throughout 2025, an Indigenous youth sub-caucus formed, the International Indigenous Youth Forum on Plastics (IIYFP). This established a culturally-safe platform for Indigenous youth to participate in UN Global Plastics Treaty processes.
