This is a quick reference guide to NHS membership. To see the full rules governing membership, please use the link above to access the NHS Constitution, Article 3.

In order to maintain good standing within National Honor Society, members must complete the following requirements:

• 15 hours of community service per semester (PLUS additional 2hrs of community service per missed meeting that semester), including volunteer opportunities sponsored by NHS. You can use a maximum of 5 summer hours to count towards the community service hours. Use this LINK to report your volunteer hours. Be sure to retain a copy of your submission receipt. Volunteer hours for the fall semester must be submitted by the last day of January. Volunteer hours for the spring semester must be submitted by the last day of school.

• $20 club fee must be paid to the bookkeeper by the October general assembly meeting. Please retain the hard copy of your receipt for the duration of your participation in NHS.

• Entering members must have a 3.7 GPA or higher, current members must maintain a 3.5 GPA.

• Attend at least 8 meetings total for the year (Only one meeting can be missed per semester and each missed meeting must be made up with 2 hours of additional community service). Specific exceptions do apply: Missing meetings beyond one for school sponsored competitions or an excused absence must be compensated by completing two extra volunteer hours. Member is responsible for emailing the NHS adviser (anthonys@issaquah.wednet.edu) before the missed meeting to obtain approval for the absence prior to the meeting. • All members must be part of a monthly committee and participate in planning NHS events for their respective months.

• Suspension or other dramatic disciplinary punishment shall result in removal of membership status.
