The California Cadet Corps is a military-based program that encourages students an enthusiastic outlook on life, and to excel academically by; "providing California schools and their students with a quality educational and leadership development program, that prepares students for success in college and in the work force."
There are no costs to be a cadet, utilities and uniforms are provided free of charge. Cadets may choose to purchase any additional equipment or accessories in order to enhance their uniform appearance, although such purchases are at the expense of the Cadet and are not required.
No experience is required, though you must be enrolled in a school that offers the CACC Program, afterwards you are eligible to enroll in the class.
Yes, Cadets will be mandated to participate at scholastic level activities such as football home games to practice basic military conduct, or to participate in local events.
NO. Students enrolled in the California Cadet Corps Program aren't forced or mandated to enlist in the military by any means.
Those enrolled will experience an improvement of character and will be taught leadership concepts that can be used on their own behalf outside of the program.
Strong Character/Personal Development/Civic Responsibility: The program produces successful students who are able to utilize concepts of the program and apply those for academic success while simultaneously becoming responsible productive young adults and fostering in each school a more constructive and disciplined learning environment.
Unique and Challenging Classes: There are many classes and activities that are not normally available to High School students; Military Customs and Courtesies, Military History, Orienteering, First Aid, Close Order Drill, Color Guard, Physical Training and Marksmanship Training.
Once enrolled in the program are eligible to receive physical education credits, or even elective credits which are both required to graduate at Indio High School.
