NCS Scholar Athlete Award
NCS Scholar Athlete Awards & Scholarships
CIF/NCS member schools are proud to honor students who excel in both their studies and their athletic pursuits. Scholar awards are available to both teams and individuals.
Starting in the fall of 2021, IHS Boosters are helping to administer these awards for Irvington athletes by submitting applications to NCS and printing certificates. Certificates are given to coaches to distribute to their team members.
Grades are provided from the school and are calculated on a 4.0 scale with A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0 (unweighted). Fall sports awards are based on 1st quarter grades, winter sports on 1st semester grades, and spring sports on 3rd quarter grades.

(composite 3.0 or higher GPA)

In addition, NCS offers a Scholastic Championship Team award for the top three NCS varsity teams in each division with the highest composite GPA (unweighted). Team members are awarded a certificate and the school receives a pennant. IHS Boosters submits applications for these awards on behalf of Irvington Distinguished Scholar Teams.
ATTENTION Senior scholar athletes: Apply for the CIF Scholar-Athlete of the Year. This prestigious program recognizes two (2) student-athletes based on excellence in athletics, academics and character. One male and one female statewide winner will each receive $5,000 as well as a visit to the State Capitol in Sacramento where they will be honored in front of the legislature. Additionally, 20 Section winners will be awarded $1,000 (one male and one female in each Section). Deadline is at the beginning of March. Apply here.

STUDENT ATHLETE SCHOLARSHIPS
CIF Spirit of Sport Award
This award recognizes one male and one female state-wide winner during each season of sport. Student-athletes are selected based on exemplary sportsmanship, school/community service, and leadership. Each winner receives a patch, award, a $1,000 scholarship. Additionally, 60 Section winners will be awarded $500 (one male and one female in each Section, in each season of sport). Info is here.
NCS Foundation Scholarship
This award recognizes and rewards student athletes who balance academic achievement, athletic participation and service to community. A total of at least six $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to three female and three male student athletes. Additional scholarships may be awarded based on available funds. Info is here.
CIF Scholar-Athlete of the Year
