If These Trees Could Talk, (together with What Would They Say and If We Listened), is an independent Australian storytelling project created by Shannon Walters and Megan Anderson.

At its heart is a curiosity about the ecosystem of humanity — the places, experiences, relationships and perspectives that shape us, challenge us and change us.

Shannon follows the stories, drawn to the threads that connect people, place, memory and experience. Megan brings scrutiny, context and perspective, asking the questions that make us look again. Together, they share a belief that curiosity can take us almost anywhere, as long as we approach what we find with care.

That curiosity now grows through three distinct branches.

If These Trees Could Talk explores the wisdom held by place — through history, nature, science, true crime, mystery and the unexplained.

What Would They Say? explores the wisdom held in lived experience — the things we survive, carry, question, learn from and sometimes struggle to say aloud.

If We Listened explores the wisdom found between generations — creating space for young people to share what they see, know and experience, and asking what adults might learn when we genuinely listen.

Different stories. Different voices. Different ways of understanding the world around us.

But the same belief sits beneath them all:

There is wisdom everywhere, if we are curious enough to look for it and willing enough to listen.

If These Trees Could Talk is a place-based Australian storytelling podcast exploring true crime, history, mystery, and the paranormal through the landscapes where they unfolded.

The land is not a backdrop — it is part of the story. Each episode considers what happened in a place, but also what remains: the echoes, silences, and unresolved threads that linger in the environment and the people connected to it.

Rather than focusing on shock or resolution, this work centers context, knowledge and humanity. It looks closely at where systems failed, where voices were lost, and how stories continue to shape communities long after the moment has passed.

What Would They Say is a companion branch that turns the same care and attention toward people rather than places.

This space exists for real stories from real people; lived experience shared through conversation, not performance. There is no expectation to resolve trauma, provide answers, or be extraordinary. What matters is consent, boundaries, and respect.

What Would They Say values reflection over exposure and listening over visibility. It recognises that wisdom often lives in quiet stories held by regular people, and that being heard can be meaningful even without an audience or outcome.

The strongest forests don’t grow because of their oldest trees alone. They thrive because every generation has something to offer.

If We Listened explores the wisdom of young people — not because they have all the answers, but because they might help us remember the questions that matter most.

Through honest conversations about the things that shape their lives and ours, we make space for younger voices to be heard as they are — without adults speaking for them or deciding what their stories should mean.

Because sometimes understanding the world differently begins with listening to someone who sees it differently.
