Welcome to Funamoto Laboratory

For innovation in disease treatment and prevention technology, it is essential to elucidate the mechanisms that maintain biological homeostasis and the biological phenomena that lead to the onset and progression of diseases.

Our laboratory is engaged in interdisciplinary research that combines bioengineering and cell biology based on fluid engineering. Through a microfluidic device "biological simulating chip" that reproduces the microenvironment inside a living body in vitro, and a blood flow measurement fusion simulation that combines medical measurement and numerical analysis, We study the responses of individual cells to temporally and spatially changing in-vivo environments, cell-cell and cell-surrounding tissue interactions, and mechanisms of changes in living tissues.

The goal of Funamoto Laboratory

Starting from medical engineering collaboration based on fluid engineering, we aim to further integrate different fields and create a new interdisciplinary academic field, "biomechanoinformatics".
