You are responsible for securing your own accommodation during your visit to Corfu. Although there are plenty of hotel options in Corfu, our local contacts at Ionian University have provided us with the following recommendations and information. Please contact individual hotels if you have any enquiries.
Due to the huge number of reservations made in Corfu, it is anticipated that it would be very difficult (actually impossible) to make a booking after February. Therefore, the hotel officers provide the deadline for reservations of February 1st. Hence, participants should book rooms no later than February 1st at the latest. For that period (through February 1), the following discounts per hotel are provided as follows:
The hotel is located at Spianada square. The prices will be lower than the prices appearing via online booking agents (e.g., Booking.com, Expedia, etc.) In particular: 1 and 2 beds: 125 Euros (standard room), 180 Euros (superior, with sea view and balcony); 3 beds: 140 Euros; 4 beds: 160 Euros. Contact the Director of the hotel, Mr. Kapodistrias (+30-26610-39041 and -39549, info@cavalieri-hotel.com) and mention your reservation concerns the event of Ionian University on August 22, as well as mentioning the above prices. Please note that there is an additional hotel tax 3 Euros per day. It is not required for a down payment; just the number of a credit card is needed for the reservation. Furthermore, the hotel will prefer bookings for more that one night.
The hotel is located very close to Spianada square (2 minutes walking) and is the most expensive hotel in the city. We contacted Mr. Sgouros and the director of the hotel, Mr. Alexandros Anemoyannis. The offered prices are: 1 Bed: 181 Euros; 2 beds: 233 Euros; 3 beds: 314 Euros. All rooms have a sea view and balcony. Contact: +30-26610-39485, info@corfupalace.com. Please note that there is an additional hotel tax 3 Euros per day.
The hotel is located at Spianada square. We contacted Mr. Yannis Spingos (+30-26610-37670, +30-26610-30104, info@arcadionhotel.com). The hotel offers a discount of 5% on the prices announced via online booking agents (e.g., Expedia, Booking.com, etc.) For this purpose Mr. Spingos has already created the voucher "IONIO" so as the colleagues who prefer to book rooms, they could use the reservation form of the hotel and write the word IONIO in the field Voucher. The offered prices are (using the IONIO voucher): 1 Bed: 90 Euros (note that there exist only three 1-bed rooms); 2 beds: 120 Euros (without view to Spianada square; or 140 Euros (with view to Spianada square); 3 beds: 140 Euros (without view to Spianada square) or 160 Euros (with view to Spianada square). Please note that there is an additional hotel tax 1.5 Euros per day.
4. Hotel Hermes
It is located near (3 minutes walking distance) the University. It is the cheapest hotel and it is recommended especially for students. The hotel might not accept credit cards. Thus, there exist significant probabilities for cash payment. The offered prices are: 2 beds: 75 Euros + 7 Euros for breakfast (optional); 3 beds: 85 Euros + 7 Euros for breakfast (optional).
All the hotels are in the Corfu town. The hotels 1-3 are located at most 8-10 minutes walking distance from Ionian University.
Getting Around
In Corfu, public transit is available on BLUE buses and GREEN buses. Please visit their websites for contact information, ticket rates, routes, etc.
- BLUE buses are operated by Corfu City Bus.
- GREEN buses are operated by GreenBuses.
Taxis are readily available at the airport and throughout the city.
From the airport, you may arrange private transport to your hotel via Global Taxi Reservations Ltd.
