Virtual reality applications are being developed to disseminate knowledge about the forests of Santa Catarina, especially in the school context.
In 2024, under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Maurício Capobianco Lopes, the FlorestaSC project was initiated: scientific dissemination about forests using digital technologies based on virtual, augmented and alternative reality. This project is funded by FAPESC and was approved through the Public Call "FAPESC No. 12/2023 - Program to support infrastructure and the use of technologies for inventory, monitoring and conservation of forests and vegetation formations of the marine-coastal interface of Santa Catarina."
The objective of this project is to make available three (3) applications:
An augmented reality application that allows interaction with explanatory leaflets about the forest; (COMPLETED: Learn More)
An immersive reality application that promotes immersion in a forest environment in Santa Catarina; (in progress)
An alternate reality application to be used during visits to a forest park in Santa Catarina, allowing for a deeper understanding of the park. (in progress)
O FlorestaSC RA is a question and answer application that uses augmented reality. It makes the learning process about the forests and species of Santa Catarina more dynamic and fun.
With FlorestaSC RA, you can interact with five (5) tree species from our forests and learn more about their characteristics. These are: imbuia, xaxim-bugio, araucaria, palmiteiro and embaúba.
