Shutdown (energy saving) will allow Xbox One consoles to receive system, game or app downloads overnight, just like Xbox Series X|S. With Shutdown (energy saving) selected, Xbox One consoles will experience a slower boot time. Remote features are still supported while the console is powered on.

Just make sure you pause first rather than just powering down directly. Once you resume, it may take a few minutes to spin those download servers back up, so stay patient. But your precious progress will still be waiting.

I used to be able to turn my Xbox on with the wireless controller without fail but recently it will work for a while and then just suddenly stop turning on the Xbox. I hold the center X button and it flashes and the Xbox doesn't turn on. The only way I've found to (temporarily) fix this is to completely unplug the Xbox power, plug it back in and then the controller will turn on the Xbox again when the center X button is pressed.

I've had this same issue since day one of purchasing my Xbox One S. I still have this problem. The only fix I've found is to shut controller off, press and hold the Xbox power button for ten seconds, let go, press the power button again to turn on Xbox, then press power button on controller. This works every time, but then periodically the controller will fail to power on the Xbox eventually.

@zohaibkeyani first off "The rice thing" absolutely bogus. Does not do anything other than give you a false sense of doing something. Forget the rice altogether. You will have to disassemble your xbox and clean it properly. Use these guides to work on it. Then clean your parts with high grade (90%+) isopropyl alcohol. That means all parts. Once done reassemble and evaluate for any failures. For further help with this I'd suggest you contact the console guru on here. Yes we all like to spend as little money as possible, but if you do not fix this now it will cost you much more later on.

@meagercode nope. 70% still has 30% water. It will take much longer to evaporate and will evaporate a disproportionately large percentage of its alcohol, leaving the remainder with less and eventually leaving only water behind.

So, my son broke his xbox by spilling milk on the top. I did the tilt thing or wiped it down when it happened. It has now been 5 months later and it is still sitting here. Is it a lost or is it possible to get it fixed?

Downloading the bytes and bits of an entire game over the internet takes a lot longer than downloading a wikiHow article.[1]XResearch source Naturally, your Xbox needs some time to get the game, but this could slow your connection during a crucial moment in Call of Duty. To avoid this issue, you can learn to set your Xbox to download games after you turn it off.

WARNING: If you buy three one-year subscriptions, do not accept any bonus months in exchange for turning on recurring billing while redeeming the codes. Remember, any extra freebie months you get for doing so will make it impossible to redeem the final code.

Activate your codes for Xbox Game Pass Core (or Xbox Live Gold, if you still have them). Again, as your final reminder, if you have three one-year subscription codes for Xbox Game Pass Core, do not agree to any freebie bonus months (in exchange for turning on recurring billing) in order to redeem your final code.

To enable your Xbox to connect to Alexa, go to Profile & System > Settings > Devices & connections > Digital Assistants andselect Enable Digital Assistants. In order to turn on your Xbox with Alexa, go to Settings > General >Power mode & startup and turn the power mode to Instant-on.

NOTE: Children will still be able to make purchases with gift cards and funds that parents put into their account. The account holder will always receive an email whenever a purchase is made via the Xbox Store.

With the Xbox Series X standby sleep mode enabled, your console will boot up almost instantly by running at reduced power when off, letting it also do some things in the background. However, since the console isn't totally off, this obviously draws a bit more power compared to the energy-saving Shut-down mode. Both of these Xbox Series X power and start-up settings have their pros and cons - Sleep mode is great for installing game updates even when you're not using your console but the power consumption can be over 20x higher compared to the Shut-down mode - but ultimately, you're deciding between convenience and saving a bit of money. If you've found yourself a great Xbox Series X price and are setting it up, here's everything you need to know about the Xbox Series X Shut-down and Sleep modes.

Xbox Series X Sleep mode is like a regular standby mode and will ensure that your console goes from off to signed into Xbox Live in fewer than five seconds. Along with Quick Resume and the console's SSD, it means you can go from sitting on the couch to moving a character around in a game in potentially no more than 20 seconds.

Xbox Series X Shut-down mode will mean that your console powers down pretty much fully when you turn the console off. It offers the lowest power consumption - around 0.5W - making it a more environmentally friendly and economical, which is definitely something to consider in this day and age. You obviously won't get the rapid start-up like the other mode, but you'll only have to wait around 20 seconds for the console to boot up from cold every time, and any games you left in a suspended state through Xbox Quick Resume will still be there.

System and game updates can now also go head while the console is in its energy-saving state (previously, this was a big plus for using the Instant-on standby mode). While this is great in theory, it seems to be bit unreliable in practice based on our experience. Game updates will sometimes stop downloading after switching the console off, leaving you with a half-downloaded update when you turn your console back on - just make sure you manually check for updates fairly often so you don't get a massive backlog of downloads!

To update an Xbox One controller's firmware, turn on the console and navigate to the Xbox network. Sign in to your account. Press Xbox One and navigate to System > Settings > Kinect & Devices > Devices & accessories. Select More (three dots ) > Firmware version > Update Now.

The Xbox Series X/S is a first-rate console that will give you a top-of-the-line gaming experience. And in case that isn't good enough, there are some ways to make that experience even better! If you use the recommended settings on your QLED TV or sound system, you can enhance your games' picture, color, and audio for the best playthroughs ever.

Yes, there are ways to improve your Xbox's picture capabilities even more. Just turn on 4K and HDR on the Xbox itself. When your TV is 4K UHD, the Xbox should detect it automatically and will ask if you want to turn on 4K. However, if you initially missed or skipped this popup, you can activate 4K manually.

Sign in to Partner Center with your valid, current Partner Center app developer account. If you don't see multiple options in the left hand navigation pane, or don't see the Create a new app option in the Overview section, the following steps and activation links will not work; make sure you fully registered your app developer account from the previous step.

Enter the activation code displayed in the Xbox Dev Mode app. You have a limited number of activations associated with your account. After Developer Mode has been activated, Partner Center will indicate you have used one of the activations associated with your account.

Click Agree and activate. This will cause the page to reload, and you will see your device populate in the table. Terms for the Xbox Developer Mode Activation Program agreement can be found at Xbox Developer Mode Activation Program.

Most of us remember to make an effort to turn the light out when we leave a room. But what about all our other appliances? Everything connected to a power outlet in your home is using up precious power. And with the price of electricity rising, Microsoft has offered an option to help you make your Xbox as energy efficient as possible.

Shutdown mode is the most energy-efficient option and will use 20x less power than sleep mode. It also has many of the same benefits that sleep mode does. When your console is shut down, it will still install system and game updates. This is a massive plus because when you actually have a spare moment to play a video game, the last way you want to spend it is by watching updates install rather than actually gaming.

You also save power, which saves you money in the long run. When your console is in sleep mode, it is still chewing up a lot of energy. The Xbox Series X is the most efficient, using around 10W of power while in sleep mode, while the Xbox Series S uses 13W. When your console is shut down, on the other hand, that usage goes down to 0.4W for the Xbox Series X and 0.5W for the Series S. That might not seem like a large difference, but it all adds up.

Nothing is perfect, however, and there are some cons to energy saving mode. Namely, the inability to use remote features via the Xbox App. It also takes longer to turn the console on. But even though you may have to wait around 45 seconds to dive back into your favorite game, everything you had on Quick Resume will still be waiting for you.

Maybe you throw caution into the wind, and the price of your energy bills is the last thing on your mind. If your time is more valuable than your money, you might want to use the console's sleep mode instead. Since it was never really off in the first place, sleep mode has a near-instant start-up time. It will probably only take you around five seconds rather than 45 to get going. 006ab0faaa
