During this camp, we were able to interview many people, both by call and in person. We learned their experiences, and how this issue impacts our community. One of the people we interviewed was Dr. Jennifer Johnson. She was not aware that 30% of the people in McLennan County are in poverty. We also asked Dr. Johnson if she has ever volunteered in the community. She said that she has volunteered at Caritas with her church and has led students in creating blankets for the homeless.
Dr. Joel Porter is the dean of advising students at Baylor University. He was asked the same question as Dr. Johnson, and he too was also unaware of the homeless and poverty population percentage in McLennan county. He has volunteered at Salvation Army in the past and would also be willing to donate to the Love Backpacks. He thinks that the Love Backpacks idea is good.
Leone Moore is a financial administrator at Baylor University. She was aware about the population of homelessness and poverty in McLennan County. She supports good causes and homeless people. She also thinks the idea of Love Backpacks is a good one.
Dr. Janet McDade works at Baylor University. She was aware of homelessness in McLennan County. She thinks that the idea of Love Backpacks is a phenomenal idea. She donates to places where her family has been impacted.
