Call For Papers

COVID-19 Updates:

Due to the recent COVID-19 issue, the safety and well-being of all conference participants has been taken to consideration. After studying and evaluating the announcements, guidance, and news released by relevant national departments, the Organizing Committee of IEEE SECON 2020, in concert with the Steering Committee and IEEE, has decided that the conference will run as a virtual conference (i.e., using remote audio/video support) and not as an in-person event. Authors will be required to present their paper remotely, according to IEEE policies and procedures about publication(s). Attendees will still be able to enjoy the presentations and interact with the authors remotely. We will communicate the details of the specific audio/video tools we will be using, as well as, the scheduling and format of paper presentations and other conference events.

Workshop Overview

Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) integrate computing and communication capabilities in physical objects for monitoring, control, and smart decision making in the physical world. These systems are usually composed of a set of networked agents, including sensors, actuators, control processing units, and communication devices. All our surrounding critical infrastructures are also a part of such large cyber-physical ecosystem, which enables smart and connected environments. Prevalence of cyber-physical ecosystem, which are inherently of distributed nature, demands to architect models and propose solutions that can suitably address the above-mentioned challenges. A multitude of CPS devices and applications exist in industrial, transportation, medical, home‑security, building automation, emergency management, power, and many other systems, which serve critical functions in our lives. Given the popularity of the CPS applications, securing them against malicious activities is of utmost importance. Otherwise, malfunctioning and insecure CPS devices and applications can cause enormous damage to individuals, businesses, and nations.

This workshop intends to focus on understanding security, privacy, and trust related challenges for better understanding the attack surface of modern cyber-physical systems. It welcomes any research work that is pertinent to the security of embedded systems, Internet of Things, SCADA Systems, Smart‑Grid Systems, Critical Infrastructure Networks, Transportation Systems, Medical Devices. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

· Trustworthy softwarized CPS architectures

· Softwaized 5G networks

· STP for Energy-efficient Green CPS

· Threat models and risk analysis of softwarized CPS

· Physical layer security for heterogeneous CPS

· Hardware and software vulnerability analysis of CPS

· Transaction privacy through anonymization in CPS

· STP of CPS in automotive, aerospace, embedded, industrial control systems and medical devices

· STP issues for handheld device CPS applications such as healthcare

· Application of blockchain technologies for STP-aware CPS

· Ethical issues in STP-aware CPS

· Secure system architectures, protocols and applications for softwarized CPS environment (smart grid, healthcare etc.)

· Secure Integration of IoT/CPS and Cloud Computing

· Energy efficient security in softwarized IoT and CPS
