It began in 1997 when ECEs decided to form a separate chapter in Iligan City. Several meetings were held to discuss the plan including the revision of by-laws and the chapter name. IECEP-IBC (Iligan Bay Chapter) was named to cover not only Iligan City but also the neighboring communities and municipalities as well. The first president who held office was Engr. Julius Espinosa who works on a former prestigious steel company in Asia - National Steel Corporation. At that time IECEP-IBC is full of excitement, we held seminars and trainings all year round. Engr. Espinosa was followed by Engr. Gualberto "Bobby" Gopo, Jr. as the chapter's president. Engr. Gopo also works on the same company. The city though experienced slowdown due to the Asia financial crisis which started in 1997. A good number of industrial plant were closed not only in Iligan City, that includes the National Steel Corporation.

Until 2004 we lost contact with our fellow ECEs, though it is understandable, we need to find other endeavor to survive.

By 2010 we decided to bring back IECEP-IBC to the front line and indeed on July 31, 2010 -with the help of IECEP-MRC(Mindanao Regional Chapter) we held a seminar and induction of officers. We are all thankful to Engr. Teodoro Buenavista, Jr., Engr. Alex Maureal and Engr. Naomi Bajao for making it happen.
