Franz Schubert
Franz Schubert was an Austrian composer and pianist born in 1797 in Vienna. He is best known for his over 600 lieder and his contribution to the romantic repertoire, including symphonies, operas, and chamber music. Schubert began composing at a young age and studied briefly at the Imperial Court Chapel and later at the Vienna Conservatory. Despite his musical talent, he struggled to establish himself professionally and spent much of his life working as a schoolteacher. Schubert died in 1828 at the age of 31 from syphilis, but his music has since become beloved and he is considered one of the greatest composers of the 19th century.
