Welcome to Identity School of Dance 

Identity School of Dance offers weekly classes in Dance, Musical Theatre, and Singing for children and adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Led by certified teachers with professional experience, our classes span a range of dance styles—including Contemporary, Ballet, Street, Commercial, and Musical Theatre. As well as competition teams for anyone wanting to develop their skills further within the dance industry. We bring energy, compassion, and expertise to every session.

At Identity, we are more than just a dance school—we’re a welcoming and inclusive community where every student is supported to feel safe, valued, and empowered to express themselves.

Our mission is to break down barriers, celebrate individuality, and inspire every dancer to reach their full potential—both on and off the stage. 

Opal is the passionate founder and lead teacher at Identity, bringing over 8 years of experience within the Performing Arts Industry. She is professionally trained in a wide range of dance styles including Street, Commercial, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Ballet, Lyrical, and Freestyle.

Opal holds a BA Honours Degree in Dance and a PGCE (Qualified Teacher Status). Opal has taught across primary, secondary, and further education settings, including both mainstream and SEND. Currently, she works full-time as a Performing Arts Teacher at Derwen College in Shropshire.

In addition to her teaching qualifications, Opal is a qualified gym instructor, First Aider, Medication Trained, Mini Bus driver and fluent in Makaton (Levels 1-4). 

As a performer previously before becoming a teacher, Opal has worked with notable dance artists, toured with ZOO Nation, appeared in music videos, placed 1st at The British Dance Organisation World Championships 2014 and had a successful contract as a Character and Parade performer at Disneyland Paris.

At Identity, her mission is to provide inclusive, inspiring classes that build confidence and lifelong skills in every student, regardless of age, background, or ability.
