Autodesk® Revit® software drives efficiency and cost-effectiveness by bringing architecture, engineering, and construction disciplines into a unified modeling environment. With an estimated 4 million people using it worldwide, Revit is considered the gold standard for BIM design for many reasons, including:
It is truly an end-to-end software. Designers use Revit software during early stages to visualize their ideas using preloaded components like walls, doors, windows, flooring, and fixtures. With the basic design done, engineers add in electrical, plumbing, heating, cooling, and other components and check for clashes. When the model is complete, users can print 3D views of models as well as supporting documents needed by the construction and owner-operators, including schedules, 2D construction drawings, fabrication drawings, and performance analyses.
2. Its built-in parameters reduce design time. Information about elements within a model is stored in Revit parameters. Changes to Type parameters on one element automatically update similar components project wide, saving the user a tremendous amount of time when the inevitable updates occur.
3. Multiple people can work on the same file simultaneously. Worksharing allows access to a shared model through the use of a central model, enabling several people in different disciplines to work on different parts of a Revit project at the same time. Autodesk Construction Cloud and Autodesk BIM 360 also support Revit model collaboration.
4. A single unified model drives all project deliverables. Instead of having to use separate drawings for each perspective of a design, Revit provides views, or live representations that automatically stay coordinated. If the users make a change in one view, such as adding a new wall in a floor plan view, the change is reflected immediately throughout the model. Types of views include plan views (floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, and structural plans) elevation views, section views, 3D views, schedules, legends, and drafting views.
5. Designs can be presented clearly. With the photorealistic renderings possible with Revit software, it is easy for users to present their ideas to teams for collaboration, to potential customers during the proposal process, to customers during the actual design process, and even in general presentations and marketing materials. Instead of looking at sketches or blueprints, viewers can “walk through” 3D structures to get a clear picture of the design as it will look when completed.
Boost Revit with Ideate Software Tools
The tools within Revit enable users to browse and navigate through models, select elements, view and modify parameters, view and modify the appearance of individual elements, control the placement of elements, define the boundaries of certain types of families, and create level-hosted elements including roofs, floors, and ceilings. Yes, these are powerful tools, but they have limitations. Ideate Software is here to address those limitations. Since 2008, we have been developing software that solves persistent challenges in Revit workflows. Today, we provide Revit users around the world with six purpose-driven tools that dramatically increase the power of Revit, making it possible to design better models faster:
Control Revit data with precision and speed by exporting data from Revit to Excel, enabling the user to view and edit massive amounts of data from Revit in Excel; link/import the verified/updated data back into Revit from Excel, where the model will be updated immediately with Ideate BIMLink
Audit Revit models with certainty by finding and deleting incorrect, obsolete, and hidden problem items as well as finding, refining, and refining elements excluded from the Revit project browser with Ideate Explorer. In addition, you can review and fix Revit warnings with the Ideate Explorer Warnings Manager
Integrate and format non-BIM data into Revit projects from Excel, Word, or PDF documents with Ideate Sticky
Simplify everyday Revit tasks with efficiency and elegance with the 10 tools that come in the IdeateApps collection
Analyze, delete, or merge non-standard Revit styles; clean up object styles, line styles, line patterns, fill patterns, filled regions, materials, material appearance assets, view filters, view templates, viewports, scope boxes, text, fonts, dimensions, and arrowheads with Ideate StyleManager
Automate time-intensive tasks such as exporting key model health data, creating document issue records, preparing COBie data drops, generating quantity take-off data, generating regular PDF exports, delivering CSV reports on key family and project metrics, and so much more.
