Idaraya Life is here to support all those who find physical activity and mental wellness a challenge. We're here for women, from the new mother, one who has been trying to lose weight all their lives or someone recovering from a injury.
Founded by Ayisatu Emore, the idea to provide fitness classes and mental health support to those who feel most apprehensive was born out of the feedback she received from her friends during lockdown and her own experience as a new mother.
We aim to address the health inequalities that have been exacerbated by the pandemic. We focus on Black women as they are statistically the least likely to engage in regular physical activity. They are most likely to suffer from psychosis and most Black women suffer deeply from the intersectionality of inequalities (Gender, Racial and Socioeconomic).
We provide Health and Wellbeing programmes that support the development of personalised and relevant healthy life habits. Our flagship programme ‘ Healthy Habits for Life’ facilitates a 26 week peer coaching programme that introduces a cohort of women to the ‘5 ways to wellbeing’ and how to implement them in their often very busy lives. We take a holistic multi-dimensional approach by exposing them to activities such as hiking, cycling, expressive writing, embroidery and mindfulness. By engaging them in a variety of activities, they are able to build habits they can stick to supporting their life long health goals.
