We trust that this newsletter finds everyone in good spirits and health as the Fall competitive season winds down and our players turn their attention to other pursuits during the Winter months. We encourage our players to stay active whether they are switching focus to indoor soccer or futsal, or maybe competing in basketball, wrestling or other winter sports through their local schools. For some others, maybe a break from soccer is what they and their coaches and parents need after a long season! It won’t be long before practices start up again in the late winter for the spring season. Also, good luck to the teams entered in the early November Boise Timbers/Thorns Tourney. Here’s hoping our beautiful Treasure Valley fall weather holds up for a few more weeks! Thanks for your ongoing support and “Go Storm!”

Mack Baker plays for Coach Margie on Idaho Storms first U9 team, Storm Riot. He has a few years of playing experience and does well at all positions, especially defensive. Lately he has been excelling at playing keeper. When he's not playing soccer, Mack’s favorite thing in the world is to spend time playing with friends! He is an energetic, funny guy who is well liked by everyone. He is an excellent academic student and is creative with legos. His favorite TV shows are Johnny Test and Odd Squad. He has been known to eat an entire large pizza by himself in one sitting, minus 2 pieces. He also likes triple decker ham sandwiches. Mack also takes gymnastics and his favorite song is Bohemian Rhapsody. He has two older sisters and a dog, Luna.
As we close out our Fall season and head into Winter and then Spring activities, it is important that all Storm teams be organized and ensure they allow plenty of lead time for registration for season, tournaments, futsal, indoor soccer, etc. Brandy Suydam, our Registrar does an excellent job of helping us all stay organized and timely registered through IYSA. Storm utilizes the GotSoccer system to register our players, coaches, assistant coaches and team managers. Brandy is very busy with her work outside of volunteering for Storm in this capacity, so we ask that you respect her time and realize that response times may be delayed on certain days as she attends her other responsibilities. Brandy can be contacted at idahostormregistrar@gmail.com.
Mike Rich serves as our treasurer and does a great job with our Club's finances. Our Club uses a software called Blue Sombrero to administer player accounts and billings. We still have balances due and need to collect those balances ASAP. We would ask that each of you log into your Blue Sombrero account by following this link and ensure that your account is fully paid and up to date. With such low Club fees charged, it is imperative that accounts be paid timely in order for us to cover fees and expenses (i.e., registration, fields, referees, IYSA, Equipment, etc.). A player that is behind on account payments may not be able to participate with the team at practices or games until payment is made or a payment plan is worked out with Mike. Payment methods accepted by Storm are as follows:
Venmo - @Storm-Soccer
Checks - made out to Storm and sent to Mike Rich @ 3430 S Osterley Pl, Eagle, ID 83616
Credit Cards - Blue Sombrero allows for payment via credit card, however, we are charged a 2.9% fee for credit card transactions
Mike is very busy outside of volunteer work at Storm so we ask that you respect Mike's time and realize that Mike will respond to any financial questions you may have as soon as he is able. Mike can be contacted at mrich715@gmail.com.
In registering for the last few tournaments, we have had some problems with rosters not lining up with registered players/coaches and have been late on tournament fee payments and collections. To avoid some of these missteps, we ask that all teams that would like to register for tournaments please be organized and allow sufficient lead time for registration and payment. The process for signing up for tournaments is as follows:
1. Coaches determine, based on input from players and families, which tournaments their team will attend.
2. Ensure that the player commitments will allow for enough players each day of the tournament (including Sunday Play).
3. Send your roster to Brandy at least 3 weeks (5 weeks for State and Directors Cup) prior to the tournament to have her confirm roster accuracy.
4. Once approved by Brandy, sign up for the tournament.
5. Send roster, amount to be paid for tournament, and contact information for payment of fees to Mike Rich
6. Mike will take care of payment of the tournament fees from the Storm account and will divide the tournament fee by the number of rostered players and add assessments to player accounts in Blue Sombrero. An additional $1-$2 will be added to the assessments to cover credit card fees charged to Storm.
7. Player tournament fees should be paid prior to the tournament or the player may not be able to participate.
