Prof. Mohammad Shahidehpour

IEEE Fellow, Robert W. Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation, Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL 60616, USA.

Dr. Mohammad Shahidehpour is a University Distinguished Professor, Bodine Chair Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Director of the Robert W. Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). He has been the Principal Investigator of $60M research grants & contracts on power system operation & control. His project on Perfect Power Systems has converted the entire IIT Campus to an islandable microgrid. His CSMART (Center for Smart Grid Applications, Research & Technology) at IIT has promoted the smart grid cybersecurity research for managing the resilience of wireless networked communication & control systems in smart cities. His SPIKE initiative facilitated the design & implementation of affordable microgrids in impoverished nations. He was the recipient of several technical awards including of the IEEE Burke Hayes Award for his research on hydrokinetics, IEEE/PES Outstanding Power Engineering Educator Award, IEEE/PES Ramakumar Family Renewable Energy Excellence Award, IEEE/PES Douglas M. Staszesky Distribution Automation Award, & the Edison Electric Institute’s Power Engineering Educator Award. He has co-authored 6 books and 750 technical papers on electric power system operation and planning, and served as the founding Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid. Dr. Shahidehpour is a Fellow of IEEE, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), & the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), & an elected member of the US National Academy of Engineering (NAE). He is listed as a highly cited researcher on the Web of Science (ranked in the top 1% by citations demonstrating significant influence among his peers). He is the recipient of the 2009 honorary doctorate from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest.

Dr. KALYAN K. SEN

Co-Founder/Chief Technology Officer of Sen Engineering Solutions, Inc.

Kalyan received BEE (first class honors, 1982), MSEE (1983), and PhD degrees (1987), all in Electrical Engineering, from Jadavpur University (India), Tuskegee University (USA), and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (USA), respectively. He also received an MBA (2012) from Robert Morris University (USA). Kalyan has authored or coauthored more than 25 peer-reviewed publications, 8 issued patents, 2 books, and 3 book chapters in the areas of power flow control and power electronics. He is the coauthor of the book titled, Introduction to FACTS Controllers: Theory, Modeling, and Applications (ISBN: 9780470478752), IEEE Press and John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 2009, which is also published in Chinese and Indian (English) paperback editions. This book is used in universities and industries worldwide. His latest book titled, Power Flow Control Solutions for a Modern Grid Using SMART Power Flow Controllers (ISBN: 9781119824350), IEEE Press and John Wiley & Sons, Inc. will be released in 2021. His interests are in power converters, control systems, electrical machines, and power system simulations and studies. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and New York. He also served as a Fulbright Specialist (sponsored by the U.S. Government) and Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) Scholar (sponsored by the Government of India). He is an individual member of CIGRE.

Prof. FUSHUAN WEN

Professor in Energy Systems at Tallinn University of Technology.

Professor Fushuan Wen received the B. E. and M. E. degrees from Tianjin University, Tianjin, China, in 1985 and 1988, respectively, and the Ph. D. degree from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 1991, all in electrical engineering. He joined the faculty of Zhejiang University in 1991 and has been a full professor and the director of the Institute of Power Economics and Information since 1997, and the director of Zhejiang University-Insigma Joint Research Center for Smart Grids since 2010. He is now a Professor in Energy Systems at Tallinn University of Technology, taking leaves from Zhejiang University. He has published 200+ SCI-indexed papers, 610+ EI-indexed papers, and 710+ Scopus-indexed papers. His publications have been cited for 15700+ times. He has completed and is undertaking more than 170 grants and projects from governmental organizations and industry. Prof Wen received many awards both at the national level and provincial level, including the most prestigious National Natural Science Award of China. He has been listed in "Most Cited Chinese Researchers" in six consecutive years since 2015 by Elsevier, and is the author of one of the China's 100 Most Influential Domestic Academic Papers in 2016. He is editor & editor-in-chief of various IEEE & IET journals.

Prof. Narayana Prasad Padhy

Professor & Chair Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Roorkee, Uttarakhand.

Narayana Prasad Padhy (SMIEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in power systems engineering from Anna University, Chennai, India, in 1997. His research interests include power system analysis, optimization, demand-side management and smart grids. He has many administrative responsibilities at IIT Roorkee like Dean of Academic Affairs, Professor and Group lead, Chief Warden, advisor & Member Institute Building and Works Committee. He has completed 1 International Project and Currently serving as Principal Investigator for 6 International Projects in the field of Smart Grid with approximately 16.5 Cr INR. The International Projects have helped to fetch the tie ups with the eminent institutions like Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Boston, USA), Texas A & M (USA), Washington State University Pullman, University of Bath (UK), Cardiff University (UK), Edinburgh University (UK), Durham University (UK), Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Ricerca Sul Sistema Energetico (RSE) Italy, IITs & Industry Partners like TERI, BSES Delhi, Tata Power, ABB, Panasonic etc. He is heading many national and international projects, such as DSIDES, ID-EDGe, and HEAPD. He is also part of other international projects, namely Indo–US UI-ASSIST and Indo UK ZED-I. Dr. Padhy is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineers, Institution of Engineering and Technology, and Institution of Engineers India. He has received many Honours/Awards Fellowships as a recognition to outstanding work in the field of power system and smart grid.

Dr. Fernando Lezama

GECAD–Research Group on Intelligent Engineering and Computing for Advanced Innovation and Development, Institute of Engineering, Polytechnic of Porto (ISEP/IPP), 4200-072 Porto, Portugal.

Fernando Lezama received an M. Sc. degree (with Honors) in Electronic Engineering (2011), and a Ph. D. in ICTs (2014) both from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM), Mexico. Currently, he is a researcher at GECAD, Portugal, where he works in the development of intelligent systems for optimization in smart grids. Dr. Lezama is part of the National System of Researchers of Mexico since 2016, Chair of the IEEE CIS TF 3 on CI in the Energy Domain and has been involved in the organization of special sessions, workshops, and competitions (at IEEE WCCI, IEEE CEC and ACM GECCO), to promote the use of CI to solve complex problems in the energy domain. He is also part of the National System of Researchers (I-Level) of Mexico. He has been author and co-author of more than 50 academic papers published in top-tier journals and conferences in telecommunications, computational intelligence, and power systems. His research interests include computational intelligence, evolutionary computation, network planning, and optimization of smart grids and optical networks.

Prof. Francisco Gonzalez-Longatt

Professor, Electrical Power Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering, IT and Cybernetics, University of Southeast Norway .

Dr. Francisco M. Gonzalez-Longatt is a former Lecturer in Electrical Power Systems at Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering and a member of the Center for Renewable Energy Systems Technology (CREST) at Loughborough University, UK. He is a former academic staff of the Department of Aerospace, Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Coventry University. He was formerly with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, The University of Manchester, as a Postdoctoral Research Associate (2009-2011). He is a former associate professor (1995-2009) and chair (1999-2001) of the Department of Electrical Engineering of Universidad Nacional Politécnico de la Fuerza Armada Nacional, Venezuela (1995-2009). He is the author or editor of several books (Spanish and English), with reputed publishers such as Springer and Wiley. He has been an invited professor at the Master on Renewables at the University of Seville and University Carlos III Madrid, Spain. He is Vice-President of Venezuelan Wind Energy Association, a senior Member of IEEE, a member of IET (UK) and CIGRE. He received professional recognition as FHEA – Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in January 2014. His research interest includes innovative (operation/control) schemes to optimize the performance of future energy systems. His research is or has been supported by the Royal Society, British Council, UK India Education Research Initiative (UKIERI) –UK.

Prof. nandini gupta

Professor, EED, IIT Kanpur

Nandini Gupta obtained her Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in 1998. She has worked as postdoctoral researcher at the University of Windsor, Canada and the Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands. She has worked as a visiting faculty at University of Windsor, Canada as well as Research and Development Engineer at EMRC, Bangalore. She is currently working as professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. Her major areas of interests are dielectrics and insulating materials, partial discharge, treeing in solid insulators and applications of plasma discharges.

Dr. Marcin Paprzycki

Associate Professor, Systems Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland.

Marcin Paprzycki has received his M. S. Degree in 1986 from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland, his Ph. D. in 1990 from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and his Doctor of Science Degree from Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in 2008. Presently he is serving as Associate Professor, Systems Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland. His initial research interests were in high performance computing and parallel computing, high performance linear algebra in particular. Over time they evolved toward distributed systems and Internet-based computing; in particular, agent systems. He has published more than 500 research papers and was invited to Program Committees of over 800 international conferences. He is on the editorial boards of 14 journals. He is senior member of the ACM and IEEE, Senior Fulbright Lecturer, IEEE CS Distinguished Visitor.

Abhijit R. Abhyankar (PhD) is a NTPC Chair Professor of Electrical Engineering Department at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, New Delhi, India. He is also a member of Global Future Council on Clean Electrification of World Economic Forum. He has acted as expert member of various committees established by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) to provide technical support to resolve regulatory issues. He is member of National Reliability Council for Electricity (NRCE), set-up by Ministry of Power, Government of India, through Central Electricity Authority (CEA). He was also a member of Taskforce on PoC Transmission Pricing Review, constituted by CERC, New Delhi. He is a lead investigator in international collaborative research projects that involve academia and industry from UK, USA and The Netherlands. He has handled important projects and done consultancies for various Government and private agencies like POWERGRID, Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission, Department of Science & Technology, Indian Energy exchange, Mercaods EMI Pvt. Ltd., ReNew Power and various State Electricity Utilities. His current research interests: Smart Grids, Electricity policy and regulatory matters, Power system flexibility, Power system optimization, Power markets and Distribution systems.

Associate Professor, Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw, Poland

Maria Ganzha is working as Associate Professor at the Warsaw University of Technology. She has received her M. A. and Ph. D. in mathematics at the Moscow State University in Russia, and a Doctor of Science degree in computer science from the Polish Academy of Sciences. Maria has published nearly 200 scientific articles, is editor in chief of a book series and a member of the editorial boards of 5 journals. She has been invited to the program committees of over 250 conferences. Her scientific interest is focused on agent based technology, semantic technology and machine learning. She is Technical Coordinator of EU project ASSIST-IoT.

He has worked as assistant professor at Central University of Jharkhand, Ranchi in 2016.
