Hello
everyone!
Our teachers are committed to continuous professional development, regularly attending training courses and workshops to improve their skills and offer innovative and effective teaching methods .
Below is some information about the course participants.
I am Adriana Gambino, I am 37 and I have been a teacher since 2016.
At first, I started as an English teacher because I had graduated in foreign languages. I worked as a substitute teacher for five years until 2019, when I was assigned an annual position as a support teacher in a middle school.
At first, I was really scared because I didn’t know what to expect, but then I realized that it was exactly what I wanted to do.
For me, being a support teacher means being like a lighthouse for my students: a figure who is always present to help, to listen, and to talk about problems; someone who understands all the dynamics of the class.
Of course, I am fully committed to supporting students with disabilities, but being a support teacher is not just about that. I would definitely choose this career again.
I have been working in this school for three years. I became a tenured teacher here and I immediately started offering my availability to work extra hours or take part in afternoon projects. Later, I became the head of the support teachers’ department.
This year, I joined the headmaster’s staff as a member of a working group focused on educational innovation and experimentation, and I am really proud to be here for this new and exciting experience!
Welcome! My name is Maria Colletta, I am 44 years old, and for the past six years, this school has been my second home. My professional background combines the precision of science (with a degree in Biology from the University of Palermo) with the harmony of music (a degree in Vocational Singing from the "Scarlatti" Conservatory).
I began my journey in education as a Mathematics and Science teacher, but my passion for inclusive teaching led me to specialize in Special Educational Needs (SEN). In addition to my daily work in the classroom, for the last three years, I have been a member of the Principal’s staff, serving as the Coordinator for the inclusion of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN/BES).
I firmly believe that every student is a world unto themselves. My commitment, both as a teacher and as a coordinator, is to ensure that our school remains a welcoming environment where every student can find the right tools to express their full potential.
