ABOUT THE CITY

Varanasi, also known as Kashi or Benaras, is one of the world’s oldest living cities and a timeless center of spiritual, cultural, and intellectual heritage.

Revered as the abode of Lord Shiva, it is believed that dying in Varanasi grants moksha, liberation from the cycle of rebirth.

The sacred Ganges River, flowing through the city, is said to wash away sins.

By Air: Varanasi is connected by daily flights to major cities via Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport, 35 km from the city.
By Train: Varanasi has excellent rail connectivity with major stations like Varanasi Cantt, Banaras, and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya is linked to all key cities across India.
By Road: Varanasi is linked to the rest of India via NH 2, NH 7, and NH 29. Regular buses and taxis are available from nearby towns and cities. You can conveniently and quickly drive yourself, hail an out-of-town cab, or take a bus to the city’s bus terminal from neighbouring locations
