Robotics ENGINEERING PROGRAM
Institute of MERIT at SUNY College at Old Westbury
Mathematics Education, Research, and Instructional Technology
The Institute of Creative Problem Solving (ICPS) for Gifted and Talented Students is one of the most competitive math programs on Long Island. In 2019, the Institute of MERIT, the parent organization for ICPS, launched a 12-week Robotics Engineering program, which runs on Saturday mornings from September through December every year.
Eligibility
Students who have completed one year of the ICPS program and who will be entering grade 8 or 9 are eligible and encouraged to apply. The Robotics Engineering class enrollment application is generally made available in March every year.
Our Mission
The mission of the Institute of MERIT (Mathematics Education, Research, and Instructional Technology) is to advance the learning skills in our community of students, teachers, and citizens. The Institute of Creative Problem Solving for Gifted and Talented Students' mission is to enhance the problem solving skills of exceptionally talented students using advanced mathematics and creative thinking.
The Institute strengthens our nation's development of young leaders and role models in mathematics, science and technology to allow them to contribute greatly to society.

School Time and Location:
9:15 – 11:45 AM
Library, Room L-139
SUNY College at Old Westbury, NY
Directions to the Robotics Class:
After entering the campus from route 107 (Cedar Swamp Rd), everyone should park in the lot facing the Campus Center (big, white building).
After parking your car, face the building and notice that there are two glass enclosed tunnels that connect the lot to the building.
Walk in through the tunnel (tube) on the left side of the building. This will put you on the second floor. Go down the stairs to the bottom level and look for an instructor holding a sign that says Robotics.
