The Department of ECE has successfully hosted four editions of national conferences on communication systems (NCOCS) from 2019-2022. As a continuation of this conference series, we are glad to launch the First international conference on communication Systems (ICOCS-2023). The theme of this conference is focused on Advances in Communication, Signal Processing and VLSI. It aims to present and exchange ideas and results from academia as well as industry in the field of communication, signal processing and VLSI. Participation from international and national authors is highly solicited. ICOCS aims to provide a common forum to help researchers develop a comprehensive understanding of the technological advancements and challenges from various perspectives. Novel ideas from researchers, PhD scholars and academicians will be reviewed by respective subject experts from reputed IITs, NITs, IIITs and central universities of India and abroad. Various Industry experts and eminent professors will be invited to deliver the keynote address.

National Institute of Technology Puducherry, Karaikal (NITPY), is an autonomous public engineering institute nestled in the scenes of Karaikal, a coastal enclave in the basin of river Kaveri in the Union Territory of Puducherry. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology of India, and is declared as an institute of national importance by the Government of India, under NIT Act, 2007. The institute was established in 2010, starting its intake in the academic year 2010-11. NIT Puducherry is having a campus spread around 258 acres in the village of Poovam and Thiruvettakudi of Karaikal. The institution is a constant attempt of making endeavors to scale new heights by developing a synergy between studies, research, consulting/training activities, and placements. The institute is ranked at 136 under the category of “India Rankings 2022 - Engineering” of the 2022 NIRF rankings, released by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering offers UG, PG, and Ph.D. courses, with a vision to promote research & development in the frontier areas of electronics & communication engineering and technology. The mission of the department is to enable the students to innovate and excel as eminent academicians, technocrats, and entrepreneurs. The department has commissioned a new M. Tech. course in VLSI Design from the academic year 2020-21. The department has numerous research scholars who are working in the institute/sponsored/funded projects of diverse research fields. The major areas of research include Atmospheric Science, Remote Sensing, Climate and weather studies, Channel models using numerical and analytical methods, Physical layer design, Next-generation wireless communication, RF and Radio wave propagation, Antenna Design, Wireless Communication, Wireless Networks, Internet of Things, Microwaves, Optical communication, Biological effects of Microwaves, CAD of Microwaves, Metamaterials, Image Processing, Signal Processing, Pattern Recognition, VLSI Image processing, Audio Steganography and watermarking, VLSI Signal Processing, Signal Processing, Massive MIMO. The research activity of the department includes both fundamental research and sponsored projects.
