The Congress of the International Community of Mathematicians from Latin America 2026 (ICMAM Latin America 2026) seeks to promote the state of the art in several areas of pure and applied mathematics among the next generation of mathematicians. We welcome attendees from developing countries, but our activities are open to the entire mathematical community. Our goal is simple: we want to use virtual platforms to reach mathematicians across all borders of the world!
The congress will be held virtually via Zoom and YouTube, and in-person and hybrid sessions will be hosted by the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia (at Duitama) and the Universidade Estadual de Maringá in Brazil.

Charles Fefferman is an American mathematician at Princeton University, where he is currently the Herbert E. Jones, Jr. '43 University Professor of Mathematics. He was awarded the Fields Medal in 1978 for his contributions to mathematical analysis.
Baroness Ingrid Daubechies is a Belgian-American physicist and mathematician. She is best known for her work with wavelets in image compression. She was the first female president of the International Mathematical Union and is a professor at Duke University.
Pierre Schapira is a French mathematician known for his work in algebraic and microlocal analysis, particularly the microlocal theory of sheaves developed with Masaki Kashiwara. He was an ICM 1990 speaker and an inaugural Fellow of the AMS in 2013.
Claire Voisin (France, 1962) is considered one of the most important experts in algebraic geometry of our time and one of the most relevant mathematical personalities of the international mathematical scene. By the end of January 2024, she was awarded the Crafoord Prize in Mathematics, which is granted by the Royal Academy of Sciences of Sweden and the Crafoord Foundation (Lund, Sweden) to distinguish scientific areas not included in the Nobel Prize categories.
Susanna Terracini is an acclaimed Italian mathematician known for her work on the n-body problem, reaction–diffusion systems, and the Schrödinger equation. She has received several prestigious awards, including the Vinti Prize (2002), the Bruno Finzi Prize (2007), and the Schauder Medal (2020). She was awarded with an ERC Advanced Grant in 2013. Terracini is currently a professor at the University of Turin.
Ragni Piene is a Norwegian mathematician specializing in algebraic geometry. She earned her doctorate at MIT and has been a professor at the University of Oslo since 1987. She is a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters and Academia Europaea, and an inaugural Fellow of the American Mathematical Society. She served on the Executive Committee of the IMU and was Chair of the Abel Prize Committee from 2010–2014.
Enrique Zuazua a Spanish mathematician specializing in partial differential equations, control theory, and numerical analysis. He holds the Humboldt Chair at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg and leads the Chair of Computational Mathematics at DeustoTech. He has led several ERC Advanced Grants and was an invited speaker at the ICM 2006. Zuazua has received numerous honors, including the SIAM Reid Prize (2022), Humboldt Award (2013), and Spain’s National Research Awards.
Michael Ruzhansky is an expert in PDE, harmonic analysis, and global analysis on Lie groups. He is a Professor at Ghent University and Queen Mary University of London. He has led major research projects funded by the European Research Council (ERC), the FWO Foundation and the UK Research Councils. His contributions have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Prize and the LMS Whitehead Prize. He has a strong commitment to mentoring young researchers, particularly in developing regions.
Luis A. Seco is a Spanish economist and mathematician who is the director of Canadian based RiskLab, a global-based laboratory headquartered in Toronto that conducts research in financial risk management. Seco is also president and CEO of Sigma Analysis & Management Ltd. He is the director of the Mathematical Finance Program at the University of Toronto. Seco holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University, under the guidance of Charles Fefferman.
June Huh is an American mathematician who is currently a professor at Princeton University. Previously, he was a professor at Stanford University. He was awarded the Fields Medal and a MacArthur Fellowship in 2022. He has been noted for the linkages that he has found between algebraic geometry and combinatorics.
Cristiana De Filippis is an Italian mathematician whose research concerns regularity theory for elliptic partial differential equations and parabolic partial differential equations. She is an associate professor at the University of Parma. In 2024 she was awarded an EMS (European Mathematical Society) Prize.
Luigi Rodino is a professor of mathematics at the Università di Torino, Italy. After graduating at the University of Torino (1971), he completed his education at the University of Lund and the Mittag-Leffler Institute (Sweden 1973-75), under the supervision of L. Hörmander, and then in the University of Princeton (USA 1975-76) under the supervision of J. J. Kohn. His research activity is addressed to the theory of the pseudo-differential operators and PDE.
Elena Cordero is an Italian mathematician specializing in harmonic analysis, time-frequency analysis, and their applications to PDE. Her research focuses on pseudo-differential operators, Fourier integral operators, and metaplectic representations. Cordero has authored over 90 publications in top-tier journals such as the Journal of Functional Analysis and Communications in Mathematical Physics. She serves as an associate editor of the Journal of Fourier Analysis and Applications. She has been Principal Investigator in national projects funded by GNAMPA-INdAM. She obtained the Italian national habilitation for Full Professor (I fascia) in both 2013 and 2019, and her scientific impact is reflected in an h-index of 32.
Antonio Córdoba is a Spanish mathematician whose research focuses on Fourier analysis, partial differential equations, and mathematical physics. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago under the supervision of Charles Fefferman and is currently a professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and director of the ICMAT. Córdoba has held visiting positions at prestigious institutions such as Princeton, the University of Chicago, Paris-Sud, and ETH Zurich. His research has been published in top journals like Annals of Mathematics and Inventiones Mathematicae. He is also an active science communicator, authoring books such as Los números and La saga de los números. In 2011, he was awarded Spain’s National Research Prize “Julio Rey Pastor”.
Hélène Esnault is a French-German mathematician renowned for her work in algebraic geometry. She earned her Ph.D. in 1976 under Lê Dũng Tráng and has held prestigious positions at the Max Planck Institute and the Freie Universität Berlin, where she became the first Einstein Professor in Mathematics. She is the founder and former editor-in-chief of the journal Algebra & Number Theory, and has served on the editorial boards of major journals, including Acta Mathematica, Mathematische Annalen, Astérisque, Duke Mathematical Journal, and Mathematical Research Letters. Among her awards are the Prix Paul Doistau-Émile Blutet (2001), the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize (2003), and the Cantor Medal (2019).
Victoria Gould was an undergraduate and a PhD student at York, then a temporary lecturer at Bristol and Manchester before holding a Royal Society European Research Fellowship at the Technische Hochschule, Darmstadt. She returned to York with an SERC (now EPSRC) Postdoctoral Fellowship, before taking up a lectureship here. She has held a number of editorial positions. Currently She is the Chair of the Council and of the Editorial Board of Semigroup Forum. She is the Vice President of the European Mathematical Society and their liaison with their Ethics Committee. She sits on the Nominating Committee of the London Mathematical Society.
Barbara Kaltenbacher is an Austrian mathematician. Her research concerns inverse problems and PDE-constrained optimization. She is a professor at the University of Klagenfurt, a member of the executive committee of the European Math. Society and was editor in chief of the Journal of the European Math. Society. She has published more than 130 scientific papers and is (co-)author of four monographs. She was president of the Austrian Math. Society 2018–2021 and in 2021 was elected as a corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
María Ángeles García-Ferrero is a tenured scientist at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (ICMAT) in Madrid since 2024. She earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2018, after completing a degree in Physics at the University of Valladolid. She has held prestigious postdoctoral positions at MPI-MIS in Leipzig, Heidelberg University, and BCAM. Her work has been recognized with awards such as the José Luis Rubio de Francia Prize (2020) and the Vicent Caselles Prize (2019). In addition to her research, she is actively involved in scientific committees including the one of the European Mathematical Society (EMS).
Andrea Nahmod is a mathematician at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, recognized for her contributions to nonlinear partial differential equations, harmonic analysis, and nonlinear Fourier analysis. She earned her Ph.D. from Yale University in 1991 and held positions at Macquarie University, the University of Texas at Austin, MSRI, and the Institute for Advanced Study before joining UMass Amherst in 1998. A Simons Fellow in 2013 and MSRI Simons Professor in 2015–2016, she was named a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society in 2014 for her significant research and service to the mathematical community.
Sylvie Paycha is a French mathematician and mathematical physicist specializing in operator theory. She is a professor at the University of Potsdam and has been actively involved in promoting women in mathematics, having chaired both European Women in Mathematics and Femmes et Mathématiques. She completed her Ph.D. at Ruhr University Bochum in 1988 under the supervision of Sergio Albeverio and has worked on quantum field theory, particularly on renormalization, path integrals, and anomalies. Paycha has also contributed to projects highlighting women in mathematics, such as Women of Mathematics throughout Europe: A Gallery of Portraits.
Sir Simon Donaldson is a British mathematician whose work in the topology of four-dimensional manifolds brought new insights through gauge theory. He is a professor at Imperial College London and a member of the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics at Stony Brook University. He earned his doctorate at Oxford in 1983, and quickly achieved international recognition, receiving the Fields Medal in 1986. He has contributed to Donaldson–Thomas theory, Kähler geometry, and the Yau–Tian–Donaldson conjecture. His many awards include the Crafoord Prize, Shaw Prize, Breakthrough Prize, and Wolf Prize in Mathematics.
Duván Cardona is a FWO Research Fellow at the Ghent Analysis and PDE Center in Belgium, member of the Board of Directors of ISAAC (International Society for Analysis, its Applications and Computation), member of the Commission on Applied and Industrial Mathematics of the Colombian Mathematical Society and a member of the Young Academy of the Colombian Academy of Sciences. He is the Scientific Director of ICMAM Latin America.
Karina Navarro Gonzalez is an Associate Research Fellow at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel. From 2025 she serves as the President of ICMAM Latin America. Her field of research include reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces, functional analysis, partial differential equations and spectral theory of operators on Lie groups and other geometric structures.
Brian Grajales is a Professor of Mathematics at Universidade Estadual de Maringá in Brazil conducting research in differential geometry with a strong emphasis in Lie Theory. Since 2025, he serves as Vice President of ICMAM Latin America after being served previously to the community as President of ICMAM Latin America. He is the Chair of the Conference in Brazil.
Pedro F. Fernández Espinosa is currently serving as a professor in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at campus Duitama of the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia . He earned his Ph.D. in 2021 at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, focusing on representation theory, cluster algebras, and combinatorics. His research also explores categorification, number theory, and mathematics education. He is the Chair of the Conference in Colombia.
Élder Jesús Villamizar Roa is a Colombian Mathematician whose research interests include Partial Differential Equations, Numerical Analysis of PDEs, Control Theory, and Fuzzy Analysis. He is the author of over 60 scientific articles in these areas of expertise and a coauthor of the books “General Topology” and “Introduction to Fuzzy Differential Equations.” He has advised over 30 thesis projects at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Currently, Ruth Alejandra Torres serves as the Director of the Mathematics program at the Konrad Lorenz University Foundation. She is also member of the outreach committee of the organization ICMAM Latin America. From 2025 she was name member of the Young Academy of the Colombian Academy of Sciences of Colombia.
Eddy Pariguan is PhD in Mathematics with a focus on combinatorial theory and its applications. Passionate about solving complex problems, mentoring students, and fostering equity and gender diversity in mathematics. She is currently Professor of Mathematics at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, in Bogotá-Colombia.
Andrea V. Hurtado is a PhD candidate at the RPTU Kaiserslautern, in Germany, working under the supervision of Martin Grothaus. Her research interests are stochastic analysis and differential geometry, with a strong foundation in probability theory and operator semigroups. She has been invited to be organiser of ICMAM through the Early Career program of ICMAM Latin America.
Milton Manuel Aguirre is a data scientist, interested in pure and applied mathematics and working at the Universidad de Sao Paulo in Brazil. From 2022 he is a Board Member of ICMAM Latin America
Erkinjon Karimov is a Leading Researcher at V.I.Romanovskiy Institute of Mathematics, Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences and an Associate Researcher at the Analysis & PDE group, Ghent University, Belgium. He is a member of Uzbek Mathematical Society, the International mathematical society ISAAC, and he is Young affiliate of the TWAS (The World Academy of Sciences).
Kristina Oganesyan is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Mathematics: Analysis, Logic and Discrete Mathematics, Ghent University. She obtained her PhD in September 2023 under the supervision of Mikhail Dyachenko at Lomonosov Moscow State University and in March 2024 she concluded another PhD program under the supervision of Sergey Tikhonov at Autonomous University of Barcelona.
Karel Van Bockstal obtained his PhD (in mathematical engineering) in 2015 at Ghent University, Belgium. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Ghent Analysis & PDE Center led by M. Ruzhansky. His area of specialisation is mathematical analysis, evolutionary partial differential equations, and the development and implementation of numerical algorithms. In 2016, he received the EAIP (Eurasian Association on Inverse Problems) Young Scientist Award.
Genni Fragnelli is Associate Professor at the University of Siena since October 2024. She obtained her PhD in February 2002 at the University of Tuebingen under the supervision of Professor R. Nagel. She was a PostDoc at the University of Roma Tor Vergata (2002-2005) and at the University of Siena (2005-2010); then she became researcher at the University of Bari Aldo Moro (2010-2017), Associate Professor at the same University until 2021 and Associate Professor at the University of Tuscia (2021-2024) .
Berikbol Torebek is a Leading Researcher at the Institute of Mathematics and Mathematical Modeling in Kazakhstan. He obtained his PhD in Mathematics in July 2017 from the Al-Farabi Kazakh University. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Ghent University (2019-2025). His research interests lie in classical and fractional Partial Differential Equations. In particular, he is interested in the solvability and qualitative properties of solutions to nonlinear problems.
