ICMAM Africa (International Community of Mathematicians from Africa) is an emerging research community established in 2026 to promote mathematical research, collaboration, and visibility across the African continent. The initiative arises following the successful organization of two editions of the ISAAC–ICMAM Conference of Analysis in Developing Countries, which demonstrated the strong interest and potential of young researchers in Africa to build a vibrant mathematical network.
ICMAM Africa will be driven by young mathematicians committed to creating an open platform where researchers from Africa can meet, exchange ideas, and connect with the international mathematical community. Through this initiative, African mathematicians will have opportunities to collaborate with international organizations such as International Society for Analysis, its Applications and Computation (ISAAC) and the research network ICMAM Latin America.
Our goal is to strengthen the presence and impact of African mathematical research worldwide by facilitating academic exchanges, organizing scientific meetings, and supporting new generations of researchers.
Our Mission
Building a Strong Mathematical Community in Africa
We create a collaborative environment where young African mathematicians can interact with international experts and develop lasting research networks.
Connecting Africa with the Global Mathematical Community
ICMAM Africa promotes partnerships with international societies and research groups, encouraging dialogue and cooperation between African mathematicians and colleagues from other regions of the world.
Promoting Visibility of African Mathematical Research
We aim to highlight the contributions of African researchers through conferences, collaborative projects, and editorial initiatives.
Developing Editorial and Academic Initiatives
ICMAM Africa will contribute to the dissemination of research through conferences, workshops, and editorial projects, including participation in the ICMAM book series published with Springer, which showcases mathematical research and perspectives from developing regions.
Activities
ICMAM Africa will support:
International conferences and thematic workshops in all the areas of mathematics.
Scientific exchanges between African mathematicians and international research centers.
Editorial initiatives and research dissemination through book projects and collaborative publications.
Opportunities for young researchers to present and develop their work in an international environment.
Through these efforts, ICMAM Africa aims to contribute to a stronger and more visible mathematical community across Africa, fostering collaboration, excellence, and long-term scientific development.
