Dr. Faisal Khan is Mike O'Connor II Chair Professor and Director of Mary Kay O'Connor Process Safety Center, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas. He is also Director of Ocean Energy Safety Institute (OESI).
Dr. Khan is former Professor and Canada Research Chair (Tier I) of Offshore Safety and Risk Engineering at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. He is the founder of the Centre for Risk Integrity and Safety and Engineering (C-RISE), which have over research 100 research members. His research interest areas include Process safety, energy Safety, offshore safety, extreme event modelling, asset integrity and risk engineering. He is the recipient of the many National and International Awards. He continues to serve as a subject matter expert to many multinational oil and gas and processing industries on the issue of safety, risk, and asset integrity. He also served as Safety and Risk Advisor to Government of Newfoundland, Canada; Ministry of Environment, Government of Qatar; and Ministry of Environment, Government of Peru. He is Fellow of Canada Academy of Engineer. He has authored over 500 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and mentored 80 PhDs and 85 master students. He is Editor-in-Chief to the Journal of Process Safety & Environmental Protection and Safety in Harsh Environments.
Datuk Dr. Mohd Nor Azman Hassan is currently the Deputy Secretary General (Technology Development) of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. He overseesthe policies and development ofscience, technology and innovation ecosystem as the catalyst for socio-economic development of the country. His previous positions were in the areas of higher education, power sector and technological development including industrial related technologies, such as renewable energy, advanced materials and manufacturing, biotechnology (including vaccine development strategy) and nanotechnology. He had extensive engagements with the industry including the start- ups and SMEs, in particular to communicate government’s policies and programmes relating to STI. Datuk Dr. Azman holds a doctoral degree from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA in the field of renewable energy technology and is trained in conducting Life Cycle Analysis (LCA). He is also a registered Professional Technologist (Green Technology) with the Malaysian Board of Technologist.
Prof Ir Dr Robiah Yunus is an honorary professor in Chemical Engineering at the Universiti Putra Malaysia. She was seconded to the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Malaysia as the Deputy Director General (Academic and Development) before she retired in October 2022. She received her BSc in Chemical Engineering from University of Alabama, USA in 1986, Master degree from University of Leeds UK in 1989 and PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2004. She started her career as a senior lecturer in 1997 at the Universiti Putra Malaysia, associate professor in 2005 and a full Professor in Chemical Engineering in 2012. She is a qualified Professional Engineer and a Fellow to the Academy of Science Malaysia and Institution of Chemical Engineers, UK. She has published over 250 articles and graduated more than 85 students at PhD and master levels. Most of her Scopus publications (235) are in CIJ journals with H-Index of 43 and over 7000 citations. She is the inventor of 14 patents on various products and technologies related to palm oil products and processes. Her prominence in the area of sustainable processes and green products is well proven through her obtaining various grants from government and local industries worth more than RM 15 million. She is also an expert panel for various government agencies on palm oil processes and green technology. All these experiences has provided her the opportunity to contribute timely in the development of palm oil industry in Malaysia
Dr Kuah currently heads the Sustainable Development department within PETRONAS Project Delivery & Technology (PD&T) division. In this role, he steers and orchestrates the Sustainable Development strategy and planning, supporting PETRONAS Sustainability Agenda and Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050 aspiration.
He joined PETRONAS in 2006 and has held many technical and managerial positions. He started his career as a process chemist before moving on to assume various roles including as research scientist and commercialisation manager. In his current position, he incubates and drives implementation of various Sustainable Development initiatives at divisional and enterprise levels as well as spearheads the sustainable development capability development and change management efforts for PD&T.
Dr Kuah obtained his Ph.D. and Post-Doctorate degrees, both in Green Chemistry, from Queen’s University of Belfast, Northern Ireland. He further enhanced his business acumen by pursuing an MBA degree from London Business School, UK.
Over the years, he has authored more than 20 international publications, invented six patents and helped commercialise numerous neoteric and proprietary technologies. He was a recipient of various Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) awards in 2013-2014. And in 2016, he was awarded Chartered Chemist (CChem) status by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and Chartered Scientist (CSci) accreditation by the Science Council, UK.
Dr. Wiratni Budhijanto is a faculty member in Chemical Engineering Department, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Indonesia). She was formally educated in chemical engineering with special interest in bioprocess engineering. She earned her undergraduate (1996) and master (1999) degrees in Chemical Engineering Department, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. Her doctoral degree (2003) was granted from Chemical Engineering Department, West Virginia University, Morgantown WV, USA. Besides the aforementioned formal education, she also took some informal trainings as visiting researcher, such as in Biological and Environmental Engineering Department, Cornell University, Ithaca NY, USA (2009-2010). In 2015, she took her scientific capacity into another platform, i.e. science-based policy making, when she was granted the competitive ASEAN-US Science and Technology Fellowship. During the fellowship, she was assigned to the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Technology for one year to be involved in the ministry activities. Her passion in research was recognized with some prestigious fellowships; among others are UNESCO-L’Oreal for Women in Science Fellowship (2007), Schlumberger Faculty for the Future Fellowship (2009), and the finalist of the national best faculty member in science and technology. Her research interests are biorenewable materials/energy and waste management in the framework of eco-efficiency. In the last 5 years, she has been granted research grants in the field of biological waste water treatment (anaerobic and aerobic), municipal solid waste, biodegradable polymers. Some of the grants were USAID PEER Science (2014-2015), The Indonesian Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (2018-2021), RISPRO LPDP (2018-2021), and the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Dr. Hsiu-Po Kuo received B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from National Taiwan University, Taiwan in 1995, and Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Birmingham, UK in 2001. He joined Chang Gung University, Taiwan in 2002 and was the Vice Dean of College of Engineering from 2018 to 2020. He was Deputy Secretary-general of Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers from 2019 to 2020. Currently, he is a full professor and Deputy Chair of Department of Chemical Engineering in National Taiwan University. Since 2023, he is the Director of Center of Industry-Academia Collaboration, National Taiwan University. His research interests include multiphase flows, fluidization, general particle technologies and process intensification. He wrote more than 50 SCI journal papers in the particle technology field as the corresponding author. He was Chair of the 7th Asian Particle Technology Symposium (APT2017). He is currently the Associate Executive Editor of the Advanced Powder Technology Journal (Elsevier, IF=4.969, 2021). He works closely with the industrial sectors and serves as Consultant of several companies. Industrial supporters include Formosa Plastics Group, China Steel Corporation (CSC), China Petroleum Corporation (CPC), Taiwan, Hopax and etc.
