Lynne Bowker
Lynne Bowker is Full Professor and Canada Research Chair in Translation, Technologies and Society at Université Laval. She is a certified translator with the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes du Québec (OTTIAQ) and was elected to the Royal Society of Canada in 2020. Her research interests lie at the intersection of translation and technology, with a particular focus on the user perspective, including how people both within and beyond the language industries make use of AI-based translation tools. She is the author of works such as the open access book De-mystifying Translation: Introducing Translation to Non-translators (2023, Routledge) and Machine Translation and Global Research (2019, Emerald). As director of the SSHRC-funded Machine Translation Literacy Project, she is working to encourage transparent and responsible use of translation tools in the wider community.
