International Centre for Cultural Studies (ICCS)
International Centre for Cultural Studies (ICCS) is a non-political, non-religious, non profit socio-cultural forum established in 1997 in Nagpur, India, by a group of academicians and volunteers. The organization promotes dialogue among the Elders of various ancient traditions and cultures, focusing on ideas aligned with Indian philosophy, particularly the concept of living harmoniously with nature. With a membership exceeding 1,000 participants from over 40 countries representing more than 75 distinct cultures, ICCS underscores the belief in 'Vasudhaiva kutumabakam'— one world, one family, one future.
The ICCS addresses modern societal challenges, emphasizing sustainable development through the study of ancient cultures and their practices, such as agriculture, animal husbandry, and renewable energy. This initiative aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, advocating for cultural-based development and community participation in preserving ancient knowledge. Humanity is viewed holistically, promoting balance among people, the environment, and the spiritual realm, reflecting wisdom articulated in Native American sayings about stewardship of the Earth for future generations. ICCS regularly organizes triennial conferences and contributes to global discussions, including G20 dialogues, focusing on sustainability, diversity conservation, social inclusion, and international cooperation in accordance with traditional wisdom
