LAST AUGUST 22, several ICA personnel participated in the Guiding and Inspiring First Timers (GIFT) program. This program was organized by the ICA Learning and Development (LEAD) Office and facilitated by Ms. Gemma Ariola, the LEAD associate. This orientation program is held every year for new employees in order to help them adapt to their new working environment.
The GIFT program is open to the ICA teachers and staff who are currently in their first to third year in ICA. During the sessions, Year 1, Year 2, and Year 3 participants are given different modules to guide them. By doing so, the personnel are given an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the school’s philosophy, vision-mission, goals, and objectives (PVMGO), culture, and procedures. The attendees are also able to gain the necessary skills that would guide them in performing their jobs more effectively. Through these, the teachers and staff develop a greater appreciation for the ICA community. Hence, the program’s goals are consistently achieved.
Among the new members of the ICA community is Mr. Gian Atanacio, a first year chemistry teacher. Through the GIFT program, Mr. Atanacio has become more informed about the school and the students. With this, he shares, “The sessions really helped me to understand where the students are coming from, their actions, and expectations. It really helped me to know what I need to do, to do my job well.”
