Department of Mathematics, IIT Patna
The Department of Mathematics was established with the inception of IIT Patna in August 2008. The Department is committed to impart high-quality education in Mathematics at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. Faculty members of the department have versatile experience in teaching as well as in research in different areas of Mathematics. The research areas of the department include Algebra, Coding Theory, Differential Equations, Graph Theory, Mathematical Control Theory, Mathematical Modeling, Nonlinear Dynamics, Numerical Analysis and Computations, Optimization, Statistics, Differential Geometry, Computational Finance, Theoretical Computer Science and Matrix Theory.
The department is currently running B.S./B.Tech. in Mathematics and Computing, B.Tech.-M.Tech. dual degree program in Mathematics and Computing, M.Sc. in Mathematics, M.Tech. in Mathematics and Computing and Ph.D. in all above-mentioned research areas.

How to reach IIT Patna
IIT Patna is well connected with Patna Airport and Patna Rail Station. IIT Patna campus is located at Bihta, 40 km from Patna and 20 km from Ara, at a 501 acres (203 ha) site. The nearest railway station is Bihta which is 2 km from the campus. Bihta railway station is connected to most of the major cities in India. There are sufficient autos available from Bihta rail station to come at Patna. Danapur railway station is approximately 20 km from campus. The distance from Patna junction to Bihta is approximately 40 km. Patna junction and Danapur Railway station are connected to Bihta by local trains.
IIT Patna has road connectivity to and from Patna and Ara. Regular bus services have been provided by the Govt. of Bihar from Gandhi Maidan, Patna to IIT Patna campus.
The nearest airport to reach IIT Patna campus is Jai Prakash Narayan Domestic Airport, Patna, which is located 5 kilometres southwest of Patna and about 35 km from IIT Patna.
Auto facilities are available from Bihta rail station to IIT Patna. Autos, Taxies and Uber/Ola facilities are also available to IIT Patna from Patna/Danapur rail station or Patna airport.
