Skyline High School has been an IB World School since 2004, and currently has 25 Certified IB Teachers.
Mrs. Thackeray teaches IB English HLA1, and has been teaching at Skyline for 19 years.
She graduated from the University of Utah, and has a plethora of hobbies including Orangetheory fitness, walking her dog, watching trashy reality TV (Vanderpump Rules, Real Housewives, 90 Day Fiance, and Before the 90 Days), Instagram stories, reading (duh), and sitting on her front porch reading the newspaper and drinking coffee. She also loves gummy bears, but hates squirrels.
Mr. Krueger has been at Skyline High School since 2010. He currently teaches European History (HL2), Psychology (SL/HL), AP Psychology, US Government and Theory of Knowledge.
Mr. Krueger studied at Brown University and earned his Ph.D from the University of Utah in 2017. He worked at Hunter High School prior to coming to Skyline as IB Coordinator, teacher and swim coach. His passions are hiking, canyoneering and writing his novel.
Ms. Rector has been at Skyline since 2017. She graduated summa cum laude from Brigham Young University and earned a Masters in Writing from Wilkes University. She has taught language arts, composition, literature, and education courses at the secondary and college level since 2000.
She is passionate about the vision of the IB Program. She loves working individually with highly motivated students to help them achieve their goals. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, gardening, making memories with her family, and hiking with her dogs.
Mrs. White has been at Skyline since 2019. She is the IB counselor! She attended Brigham Young University (BYU) and has received a degree in Information Technology. She then completed a second degree at BYU, receiving a teaching certificate in Business Education and Physical Education. Later, she went to the University of Pheonix and got her Master's Degree.
Before coming to Skyline, Mrs. White was a counselor at American International School of Utah (AISU) and spent several years as a teacher. Her passions include being outside, exercising, playing the piano, dancing, singing, eating healthy foods, traveling and spending time with family.
Mrs. Wheeler is a graduate of Olympus High School. Don't hold that against her. She grew up cheering for the Eagles, too, as three of her siblings attended Skyline. Mrs. Wheeler received her bachelor's degree in Recreation Management and Youth Leadership from Brigham Young University. She then received her master's degree in Educational Counseling from the University of Phoenix. She is in her 14th year as a school counselor. Seven of those years were spent just south of Seattle. So, naturally she is a Seahawks fan.
Her husband is an English teacher at Syracuse High School. They have a son, Jake, who is in kindergarten this year and a baby girl, Jenna, who was born in April 2021. She LOVES being a Mom! Mrs. Wheeler is currently only working at Skyline part-time so that she can also attend to the needs of her children. In addition to her assignment as the IB 9th Grade Counselor, Mrs. Wheeler is currently assisting with the AP program and the Sterling Scholar process. She loves being at Skyline and is proud to be an Eagle!
Mrs. Morgan has been working as Skyline's IB Assistant since 2016. In 2022 she also took over the Creativity/Activity/Service portion of IB as our CAS Coordinator. She really enjoys working with IB students!
Mrs. Morgan graduated from the University of Utah with her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies and completed the Positive Psychology certification program. She is a mom to 3 young daughters, which she absolutely loves and keeps her very busy! Her husband is currently the Baseball Coach here at Skyline, and they enjoy working together in the same school. She loves spending time with her family, reading, and exercising in the form of boxing, yoga, and high fitness.
Science Teacher
Ms. Affleck has been teaching at Skyline for nine years. She teaches AP Biology and IB HL1 Biology.
She graduated from Brigham Young University in 1990. She took 40 credits from U of U in preparation to return to teaching before earning a Masters from WGU in 2018. Some of her hobbies are white-water canoeing, sewing, mountain biking, hiking, and eating delicious food.
English Teacher
Ms. Bucaria teaches IB English (HL-1). She has been teaching at Skyline for three years.
She graduated from S.J. Quinney School of Law in 2008, and has gone to the University of Alaska Anchorage and Middlebury College. She enjoys hiking, travel, environmental science and policy, biking, skiing, snowshoeing, reading, knitting and costume design.
Science Teacher
Mr. Dalley started teaching at Skyline in 2019 as the new HL Biology teacher. He also teaches Honors Biology and Honors Chemistry.
He attended the University of Utah and graduated from Westminster in 1999 with a master's degree.
Before he came to Skyline he taught biology at Granger High School and has been teaching biology labs at SLCC for the past 14 years. He enjoys long-distance running in his spare time.
Science Teacher
Mr. Gunderson teaches IB, AP, and Honors Chemistry. This is his first year at Skyline. He was raised in North East Africa. He is driven by science. He loves the outdoors and specifically gravitate towards trad climbing because of how it challenges your brain as well as your physical strength. He graduated from Utah State University with a BS in Ecology.
Dance Teacher
Ms. Jenni Humphrey is the dance teacher at Skyline and teaches IB Dance (SL/HL). This is her second year teaching at Skyline High School. In addition to IB Dance, she also teaches Dance Company, Dance Ensemble, Advanced Ballroom Dance, Dance 1, Dance 2, and Dance 3. She graduated from Brigham Young University in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Dance Education with a minor in Spanish.
She has loved dancing her whole life and loves to teach it to the students at Skyline. While at BYU she performed with Contemporary Dance Theater and had the opportunity to travel around the world with this group on performance tours. One of her favorite things about dance is being able to choreograph dances and experiment with the creative process. When she isn’t dancing, she enjoys reading, eating out with friends and family, and watching movies.
World Language Teacher
Peter Ijaika grew up in England and France. He went to the University of Essex, ( in Colchester, England), where he graduated with B.A (Hons) and a Master's degree. He subsequently attended the Université de Sorbonne, Paris IV in conjunction with l'Académie de Creteil (in Paris, France), where he graduated with C.A.P.E.S, Certificat d'Aptitude Pour l'Enseignement Secondaire.
He taught High school for six years in Paris before moving to the USA. He has been teaching for 24 years. This is his first year at Skyline. He currently teaches IB (HL/SL), AP, DLI 5, French 4 and 5, and French 3 Honors.
His hobbies include badminton, Squash and riding his motorbike.
World Language Teacher
This is Ms. Johnson's first year at Skyline High School. She currently teaches Spanish 3H, Spanish 4, and Spanish AP/IB SL and HL. Before coming to Skyline, she taught in the Dual Language Immersion program for seven years.
She graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso. She earned her B.A. in Spanish and minors in Italian and Portuguese. She also earned eighteen credits from University of Utah in Latin American Literature and Poetry and holds endorsements in World Languages and DLI.
In her spare time, Ms. Johnson enjoys dancing, cultural studies, traveling and eating, especially kid's meals.
Science Teacher
Mr. Lambert is teaching physics (Honors, AP, IB) at skyline for his first year!
He graduated from Washington State University with an undergraduate degree in Astrophysics and from Westminster with a masters in Arts of Teaching. In his free time he enjoys hiking with his dog, cooking, and playing Dungeons and Dragons.
Performing Arts Teacher
Mr. Larson teaches AP Music Theory/IB Music. He has been teaching at Skyline for 14 years.
He earned his Bachelors of Music from the University of Utah in 2003, and his Masters of Music from Sam Houston State in 2011. He enjoys playing trumpet, gourmet cooking, BBQ, motorcycling, Disneyland, and movies, specifically Star Wars and Marvel.
Math Teacher
Ms. Schneider has been teaching at Skyline for 8 years. She teaches AP Calculus BC and IB Math Studies.
She got her bachelors degree in 2011 and masters in 2015 from the University of Utah. In her spare time she enjoys reading, baking, and volunteering at the kitten nursery.
Theory of Knowledge Teacher
Mr. Watts is from Riverton, Utah. He graduated from high school in 2000 and attended The Citadel military academy in Charleston, SC for two years until 2002. In 2003, he received his associates degree from Southern Utah University. From 2003 until 2005, Mr. Watts received his undergraduate degree in history from Utah Valley University. In 2006, he began teaching at Taylorsville High School and taught there until 2015. In 2015, Mr. Watts transferred to Skyline and has taught IB Theory of Knowledge since then. While teaching at Skyline, Mr. Watts earned his master’s degree in history from American Public University in 2022.
Fine Art Teacher
Ms. Williams teaches Freshmen English, 3D Design, and AP/IB Art History
She went to Savannah College of Art and Design for her BFA and Westminster College for her MAT. In her free time Ms. Williams reads, rides her horse, and watches horror movies.
World Language Teacher
Ms. Zhang has been teaching at Skyline since 2015 as our Mandarin Chinese teacher.
She graduated from Changchun University of Science and Technology in 2005, and in her spare time she enjoys singing and dancing.
Social Studies Teacher
Mr. Lott teaches IB Economics SL, IB Finance, AP Psychology and is the AVID coordinator. He graduated from Skyline in 1996, and knew in high school that he wanted to come back to Skyline and teach psychology. He graduated from Weber State University in 2003 with a triple major in Political Science, History and Psychology: with minors in Sociology, Economics, and Finance.
He fulfilled his dream and came back to teach at Skyline 19 years ago. He was the head wrestling coach for 14 years and is now an assistant cheer coach. His wife Mrs. Lott also works at Skyline where she helps students get internships. He loves reading, working out, spending time with his family and taking afternoon naps. He drives a scooter.
Social Studies Teacher
Ms. Ardi has been at Skyline for 2 years as the AP Human Geography teacher.
She graduated from the University of Utah in 2003. She's a fan of soccer and enjoys sewing, gardening and travel.
Math Teacher
Mr. Barlow teaches Honors Secondary Math 2 and 3. He has been teaching at Skyline for 30 years.
He got his bachelors in 1988 and his masters in education in 1998 from the University of Utah, as well as an Administrative Endorsement from USU in 2013. He loves the outdoors and spending time with his family.
Social Studies Teacher
Ms. Green has been teaching at Skyline for 2 years.
She graduated from Snow College in 1996 and Utah State University in 1998 and enjoys music reading and theater.
World Language Teacher
Mr. Porter has been teaching at Skyline for 15 years and is currently teaching Spanish 3.
He graduated from the University of Utah. As the cross country coach, he loves running, and is also an avid fly fisherman.
Social Studies Teacher
Mrs. Reay has been teaching at Skyline for 2 years. She currently teaches AP US History.
She studied at Utah State University. She enjoys gymnastics, softball, backpacking, Disney, and playing with dogs.

Brodie has been teaching at Skyline for 15 years. He teaches AP Government and politics.
He graduated from the University of Utah in 2003. In his spare time he enjoys golfing, skiing, fishing, hiking and football.
