Getting there: The campus of Instituto Superior Tecnico (IST) is easily reachable by subway from the airport: take the red subway line and exit at Saldanha to Av. Duque de Ávila or exit at Alameda and go up the hill.
Downtown Lisbon is easily reachable by subway from either of these two stations. Exit at either Rossio or Baixa/Chiado.
At the airport metro station, you will need to purchase a public transport card from one of the ticket vending machines (an English-language option is available). We recommend buying a Navegante (yellow reusable) card, which can be topped up as needed.
The card is valid throughout Lisbon’s public transport network, including the metro, buses, trams, and trains.
Beware of conference/accomodation related scams , which are becoming more common.
Lunch can be had either on the premises, or in any of the plentiful number of restaurants surrounding the campus.
