This Privacy Policy describes how Classical Philosophy ("the App", published in Spanish as Filosofía Clásica) handles information when you use our application.
The App does not require you to create an account, and we do not directly collect personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, or phone number to use the App's core features.
The following data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:
Your reading progress, bookmarks, highlights and saved quotes
Your reading sessions and reading statistics
The books you have unlocked
Your reading preferences (font size, brightness, background, content language)
Your consent and privacy preference choices
This data remains on your device and is deleted if you uninstall the App. If you have Android's backup enabled, the operating system may include it in your personal device backup, which is managed by Google under your own account, not by us.
Public-domain status varies by country, so the App shows each book only where it is in the public domain. To do this, the App determines your country on the device from your SIM card or mobile network country code or, if these are not available, from your device's time zone.
This happens entirely on your device: your country is not sent to us, and the App does not request location permissions or use GPS.
The App uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used and to improve its features and performance. Firebase Analytics may collect:
App usage data (e.g. screens visited, features used, session duration)
Device information (e.g. device model, operating system version)
Approximate location (based on IP address)
Identifiers such as the advertising ID and Firebase installation ID
Ad impressions and the revenue they generate
Firebase Analytics is linked with Google AdMob and Google Ads, so this data may be shared between these Google services to measure ad performance and the effectiveness of our app promotion campaigns.
This data is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy, available at: https://policies.google.com/privacy
You can review more about Firebase's data practices at: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements, including rewarded ads (watched voluntarily to unlock a book), interstitial ads (when opening a book), and app open ads (when returning to the App).
To increase ad quality and competition, AdMob may use mediation with third-party advertising networks, which may include partners such as Meta Audience Network and Unity Ads, among others available through Google's mediation platform.
These advertising partners may collect and use certain information to serve and measure ads, including:
Device identifiers (e.g. advertising ID)
Approximate location (based on IP address)
Usage data and interactions with ads
Ad revenue and impression-level data (used internally to evaluate ad performance; this data does not identify you personally)
This data collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, available at: https://policies.google.com/privacy
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and other regions where applicable, the App will request your consent before showing personalized ads, using Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). You can review or change your consent choices at any time from within the App, under Settings → Privacy & Ad Choices (this option is shown only to users in regions where it applies).
You can also opt out of personalized advertising at any time through your device settings under Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID (or Opt out of Ads Personalization, depending on your Android version).
The books in the App are public-domain texts included with the App. Additional language content may be downloaded through Google Play's app delivery service when you choose a new language. This download is handled by Google Play under Google's Privacy Policy.
The App requests the following permissions:
INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — required to load advertisements, send analytics and download language content
AD_ID and the Android advertising (Privacy Sandbox) permissions — used by Google's advertising and analytics libraries to serve and measure ads, subject to your consent and device settings
WAKE_LOCK and FOREGROUND_SERVICE — used internally by Google's libraries to complete background tasks, such as sending analytics data, reliably
Install Referrer — lets Google Play report how the App was installed, for analytics
No sensitive permissions (such as microphone, camera, contacts, storage, or precise location) are requested.
The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The App contains advertising and is not directed at children.
You can manage your privacy preferences in the following ways:
Review or update your ad consent choices anytime via Settings → Privacy & Ad Choices within the App (where applicable to your region)
Opt out of personalized advertising through your device's system settings
Uninstall the App at any time to remove all locally stored data
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new features or legal requirements. Any changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
