We may have opportunities for a postdoctoral fellow to use computational, imaging, and wet-lab approaches to explore microbial metabolic interactions and the spatial landscapes of these interactions in chronic wound and cystic fibrosis lung infections. Postdocs are also encouraged to apply for independent funding opportunities to pursue other projects. To apply, please email Carolyn with: 1) A short cover letter detailing your research interests and why you are interested in the Ibberson Lab in particular; 2) a CV; and 3) the names and contact information for three professional references. For more information, reach out to Carolyn directly
Prospective students interested in the Ibberson laboratory should consider applying to the Graduate Program in Microbiology at UTK . Please reach out to Carolyn if you are a current UTK graduate student interested in learning more about the lab.
We may have opportunities for undergraduate students to gain research experience in the lab for pay or credit. Interested undergraduates should complete this Google Form . Scientific research takes a lot of time. To be successful, I expect students to commit to at least 10-12 hours per week to the lab and commit to at least 2 semesters. The lab is open M-F from 8:00-5:00 during the school year to undergraduate researchers, summer hours may differ. Please consider carefully whether you can commit this time before applying.
We do not currently have any posted positions for research assistants (staff scientists/technicians), but we are always looking for engaged and thoughtful scientists. If you are interested in a research position in our lab, please reach out to Carolyn directly.
The Ibberson Lab is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable research environment. We believe all candidates should share these core values, and candidates with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and identities are strongly encouraged to apply to open positions.
