My name is Woody Thompson and I am a senior in the class of 2024, on track to graduate in the IB Career-Development Pathway. By taking the engineering pathway, I was placed in challenging classes to build a basis of knowledge to take into college or future engineering careers. These classes not only tested my academic rigor, but forced the development of mental fortitude to overcome challenges in the learning environment, despite setbacks.
Outside of school, I am an athlete in many different forms. In recent years, I've taken interest in weight lifting for strength and aesthetics. This has carried benefits into my other athletic endeavors including tennis, mountain biking, skiing, and bouldering. I've been a varsity tennis player since freshman year, and plan to continue playing through college and on.
Mountain biking has been my main sport for the past 5-6 years, taking my time, money, energy, and occasionally some of my skin too. It has completely shaped who I am, and who I will become, and I am forever grateful for the effects it's had on my life.
