ianpowerOMG.bandcamp.com/album/ave-maria-variations-on-a-theme-by-giacinto-scelsi-2
An album-length work from composer Ian Power and Bay Area-pianist Anne Rainwater. Power unwinds the original melody of Scelsi’s 1972 hymn, over and over, into an obsessive meditation for performer and listener alike. What begins as lush chords and hammering bells is interrupted by a bizarre ritual where the pianist must perform an impossible task and be held musically accountable for their mistakes. Ave Maria’s relentless repetitions and uncannily tonal harmonies probe, exalt, and challenge religious concepts of devotion and interiority.
“The dynamic power and the very slow pulsation are the pillars of Variation III while in Variation IV we witness the return of the voice surrounded by a harmonic rhythmic gait that recalls the song. The Interlude follows where the protagonism of the noise flows onto the tonic pedal of Variation IV (cont'd). The album ends with Epilogue marked by the single repeated note in perfect resonance with Scelsi's poetics.”

The second album from composer Ian Power features three intense works for solo, duo, and trio. The pieces create warm, suspensive atmospheres derived from the drones that surround us in our daily life, providing brief comfort in their insistence.
“with an intelligent reinterpretation of the rhetoric of music in our times, Power has placed himself halfway between John Cage's performance practices and Giacinto [Scelsi]'s attention to sound. . . in Buoy (after Laurence Crane) then, you get a masterpiece. . . a combined flow of materials that seems to reproduce the harmonic beauty of an orchestra.”
- Percorsi Musicali
“For me, though, it is for *current* resonance and mahrem bir eser that, different as they are one from the other, that are some of the most memorable music I have heard in the last decade.”

An album of two long solo works.
Dilige, et quod vis fac.
Love, and do what thou wilt.
-Augustine of Hippo
The English word "diligence" is rooted in the Latin word "dilige," meaning "to love." Diligence, providing undivided and caring attention, to oneself or a tool or another.
In these pieces, the performers move methodically through their instruments, placing care where they choose to, intensely and freely, at their own pace, embracing both novelty and expertise.
Augustine's fuller quote reads: "Once for all, then, a short precept is given thee: Love and do what thou wilt: whether thou hold thy peace, through love hold thy peace; whether thou cry out, through love cry out; whether thou correct, through love correct; whether thou spare, through love do thou spare: let the root of love be within, of this root can nothing spring but what is good."
“Power’s debut for the label demonstrates that he is now a force guiding the rapid-fire development of instrumental syntax and its expressive components. . . a boundary-breaker, constituting one of the best things coming from the label in some time.”
