Media can influence perceptions of beauty, political and social views, and health. This is a growing issue due to the sheer amount of information, true, false, or in-between, available at our fingertips. With social media being a primary source of information for many, it is vital to understand how it can influence us and how we can use it properly.
In 2019, the Pew Research Center found that over half of Americans (54%) either got their news "sometimes" or "often" from social media, and Facebook was the most popular social media site where American adults got their news (Shearer, 2019).
