According to the World Health Organization, it is the state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. While these three are the main components of one's health, it is important to understand there are two others: spiritual and environmental. However, the National Health Standards will emphasize the physical, mental, and social components. It is important to understand how all are interconnected, and how improving one component can improve the others.
People who are physically healthy are able to meet the demands of daily life and are free of illness and disease.
People who are emotionally healthy are able to control their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. They are able to cope with the demands of daily life.
People who are socially healthy are able to form healthy and rewarding interpersonal relationships with others.
