Traces of Time is a conceptual photography project exploring how the passage of time leaves lasting marks on people, nature, objects, memories, and knowledge. Through six interconnected photographs, the project uses visual storytelling, composition, lighting, perspective, and symbolism to communicate the different ways time shapes our world.

REASEARH AND DEVELOPMENT 

The project began with research into the theme “Traces of Time” and how the passage of time can be communicated through conceptual photography. The team explored ideas surrounding aging, change, memory, decay, growth, preservation, and transformation.

Through brainstorming and visual research, we considered how everyday people, objects, nature, and environments can carry visible evidence of time. This led to the development of different photographic ideas, including the aging of nature, deteriorating environments, preserved memories, the progression of human life, and the preservation of knowledge through books.
The team then evaluated the ideas based on their conceptual strength, visual storytelling potential, practicality, and ability to produce a cohesive six-image series. The selected concepts were further developed through discussions, composition planning, location selection, and consideration of appropriate lighting and perspectives.

The final direction was to create six photographs that present different “traces” left by time, allowing each image to stand independently while contributing to one overall visual narrative. This development process helped the team translate the abstract idea of time into tangible photographic representations.
