The primary responsibility of curriculum leaders is to develop the collective capacity of the organization to assure that all students are successful.  We will explore the eight functions of our work to assure the capacity of the system to achieve that goal - the success of all in achieving our students' success.

Making the Connections:  Functions of a Curriculum Leader and  the  Instructional Framework! Join this session to explore and  examine Instructional Frameworks in a Learning System and the connections to the eight functions of a curriculum leader. This session applies to those with or without a framework.  
What are they?  Why are they important?  Why should every district have one?  How to implement throughout your system of learning? Join us for an interactive conversation on the role of instructional frameworks in our districts.

Outcomes:  

Identify why instructional frameworks are important

Recognize the attributes of a quality instructional framework

Understand the need for every district to use an instructional framework as a foundation for a system of learning

Leadership for Standards-Based Learning     (# 1.3.D)     Large Group Room

Based upon a Fall 2021 survey of secondary principals, 62 middle/high schools in Iowa report fully implementing standards-based grading. An additional 100+ schools have a plan in place or are investigating SBG.  In this session, leaders of curriculum will be provided with conversation starters and tools to advance standards-based learning and grading in their local context.

Transforming Transforming Education through CBE and CTE      (# 1.3.S)     Room 112

Are you looking for ways to engage learners in more authentic learning experiences that prepare them for living, learning, and working beyond the walls of school? This presentation will provide participants an overview of how one district is implementing competency-based pathways through both career and technical education and core credits. Participants will engage with each other and through hands-on activities to practice some of the key curriculum leadership components of getting started. The session will include an implementation template with key guiding questions so that participants can consider how they might get started in their context.
