There are two individual tests, one with topics in Algebra and Number Theory, and the other with topics in Geometry and Combinatorics.
Each test will be 10 questions and 30 minutes long.
All questions are short-answer.
Problem difficulty will range from mid-AMC 8 to late-AMC 10, so don't worry if you can't solve everything!
Problems will be weighted based on the number of solves calculated after the test.
The sum of the individual scores of all team members will be the Team Individual Score, counting for 35% of the Total Team Score.
The top 3 participants per grade and any remaining top 10 participants overall will qualify for Individual Finals, which will be 3 difficult problems and 30 minutes. The Individual Finals is a chance for top individuals to add to their score in order to further advance their placement (individual final results will not contribute to the Total Team Score)
The test will be 10 questions and 30 minutes long.
All questions are short-answer.
Problems will be harder than the Individual Test.
Problems will be weighted before the test and will increase in difficulty.
The Team Round is worth 35% of the Total Team Score.
The Guts Round is a slightly different format of test. Each team will receive a set of problems, all of which must be answered before moving on to the next set. Scores will be posted in real-time.
The test will have 9 sets of 3 problems, with a total of 27. It will be 60 minutes long.
All questions are short-answer.
Problems will start easy, but get progressively harder. Pace yourself well! You cannot go back to a previous set.
Problems will be weighted before the test.
The Guts Round is worth 30% of the Total Team Score.
Participants will compete in a countdown-style competition while doing planks. Countdown problems are meant to be solved in under a minute each, but participants will need to solve the problem while being subjected to the agony of being in a plank position. Come for some post-pizza problems and excessively extreme exercise!
Note: plank countdown is notoriously luck-based as well, but it is the most fun out of the three mini events!
Participants will receive a variety of original, beginner-friendly puzzles to be puzzled through in teams of up to four. The goal of each puzzle is to extract an English word or phrase from a given puzzle. These are not your ordinary jigsaw or logic puzzles. Indeed, puzzlehunt-style puzzles may consist of quite literally anything, so prepare to be surprised!
Participants can choose to learn about Sonobe units and make stellated polyhedrons (likely icosahedrons), or fold whatever they want! This is meant to be a relaxing and fun. Come hang out and make some cool creations!
Thank you so much for sponsoring our event!
