Right in front of me was the original main character, Bradley Wolf.
As expected, he was really handsome. A future hero must have an excellent physique starting young. He was so tall that the frail Renatus had to look up at him.
“...Magic department?”
He had a handsome voice to go with the handsome body. His voice was so sexy that it was unexpected to come from a fourteen year old.
In response Renatus could only stare at him blankly. The Bradley in front of him was not done justice in 2D form, being way cooler in person than as a illustration. In contrast, there was Renatus who was only more disgusting in person than in 2D.
Bradley seemed a little wary after not getting a reply. Renatus came to his senses and nodded his head.
On no, I acted like a die hard fan in front of my idol.
Getting back on track, Renatus tried to make steer the conversion back to normal.
“Um, laundry? Right, may I?
“...”
“With magic it’s no problem!”
Bradley looked skeptical, but handed over the shirts and uniforms he was holding. On a closer look, the water had smudged black stains and created even patches. It was probably ink.
Renatus gave a puzzled frown.
In the original, Renatus was the one who harassed Bradley, including throwing an ink bottle at him.
But now Renatus didn’t belong to the knight division and would not doing such a thing. Bradley must have been harassed by someone else.
Is this the “corrective power of fate” that is found in reincarnation stories based on original works?
Anyway, the only thing he could do now was to clean up the mess.
Using magic, he leviated the clothes, carefully removing the stains with “Purifying Clean”, drying them with “Drying Dry”, and then using “Powerful Press” to smooth the wrinkles.
It was habit to iron his clothes since he was an office worker. The clothes finished folding in mid-air and landed into his arms.
“Here you go.”
Bradley had a surprised look on his face when I handed him the cleaned set. It may have been strange for any noble at a school like this to know how to do laundry so efficiently.
“You helped a lot, thank you.”
His expression relaxed slightly as he bowed. He changed into the newly cleaned uniform, only boosting his manly and sexy charm. No matter how you look at him, he does not look the same age as me.
“Can I ask you what’s going on?”
“...”
“Look, I’m in the magic department and won’t be bothered by the knight department. So you can spill your worries without any trouble, right?”
Renatus was curious what the protagonist was up to, and if there was a “corrective power”. If so, how would this affect him?
First he tried in a casual tone, hoping that Bradley would reciprocate. However, instead his expression hardened.
“None of your concern. It’s something between me and a high-ranking noble. Don’t be nice to me since you could get hurt.”
All Renatus heard was concern from Bradley. He was worried Renatus would face harassment by others in power.
He’s so kind. As expected from the main character of the original book.
At the academy, “students were equal regardless of status.”
But that that was just a front. Hierarchy of family, wealth, class status, seniority– all were taken into account. In the original, there were no nobles ranked higher than Bradley in his grade, so it must not be because of status.
“No, don’t worry about it… Instead of standing, why don’t we sit in the rose garden over there while we talk?”
The rose garden was just around the fountain. There was nobody there and the shade from the gazebo had a relaxing effect. I thought it would be a good idea, but Bradley only gave him a befuddled expression.
“Rose Garden…”
His voice dropped as he murmured, his expression gradually becoming grim. His eyes only displayed hostility directed toward Renatus.
“Why did you talk to me?”
“Eh?”
“As expected, high-ranking nobles are good at scheming.”
Bradley huffed with disdain.
Renatus didn’t like the sound of ‘scheming’ and didn’t understand the change in attitude.
In total confusion, he asked, “What are you talking about…?”
“After beating up the bastard harassing me, the only thing he told me was that he ‘did it for Renatus Ashfield.’”
“What?!” Renatus cried out in shock.
“Two-faced.” Bradley swore under his breath, then clicked his tongue in disgust. “If you really want to get rid of me, I will fight back. Cowards like you are the worst.”
With that, Bradley turned and walked away.
“Okay…?” Renatus could only tilt his head in confusion.
The interaction was so quick that there was no time to survey the situation. For their first interaction, Renatus had already been established as the ringleader in charge of bullying a poor knight.
The power of plot correction was seriously scary. The plot had ended up being so close to the original even though he had not doing anything close at all.
“Rose Garden…”
Bradley’s mood shifted upon hearing about the Rose Garden. Somehow the Rose Garden and Renatus Ashfield were linked.
While he did come almost everyday, he had never encountered anybody there, how did the knights know about him?
In the first place it was strange to not encounter anyone because of how beautiful the roses were.
Renatus pondered, even if he wanted to investigate the knight division, he had no connections. He barely spoke to other in the magic department. He was a loner, and spent most of his time quietly in the corner of the class.
“...That’s right!”
My ‘brother’ said to contact him if anything happened. And he had been in the knight department. Even though he graduated a few years ago, he probably had some juniors still at the school. And because of his status they would be eager to help. If Bradley is going through a tough time, I just wanted to help. Since I’m a big fan of the protagonist.
After school, I sent a message to Clarence as soon as I reached my dorm.
While this world had magical tools for communication, there were expensive. However, they were no issue for ‘father’ to buy for me.
They were supposed to be used for daily communications but because of my uneventful life, it had become weekly updates “This week was like any other week.”
Both ‘father’ and my older ‘brother’ were prolific writers, always sending me long messages.
Oh, like this one. I already got a reply.
The magic lamp lit up, Clarence responding really quickly.
“‘Got it, I’ll look into it’... huh? Big Brother is really reliable.”
Renatus nodded. It was worth it to rely on them for matters like this.
