Research Interest

The main research interest of my lab is to explore therapeutic applications of RNA interference (RNAi). RNAi is the mechanism of specific silencing of gene expression via degradation of cognate mRNA through small interfering RNA (siRNA) molecules. One of the major hurdles for the use of RNAi in therapy is a lack of methods for the targeted delivery of siRNA to specific cells. We propose to develop approaches for tissue/cell specific delivery of siRNA using nanoparticle and lentiviral technologies. As an extension of our research goals, we will test the delivery systems for therapeutic potential in viral infections.
