As a part of promoting Free Flow New Mexico's Reusable Period Products, I found myself posting fliers in the food pantry to promote our free services. If students scan the QR code (image to the left), they can follow instructions to get some reusable products: 2 pairs of period underwear or 5 reusable pads, and/or a period cup or disc.  This is a great option for students as these products are easy to clean and reduce monthly costs! This program is available statewide, which includes all college students in New Mexico. 

One of my goals with my field experience at Free Flow New Mexico was to help people on campus, so Laurie and I talked about me hosting a period kit assembly event at UNM. All products could then be donated. I immediately thought of the Lobo Food Pantry. I really like all my reusable products, but I know a period can be so personal; some people prefer disposable products!  I thought it would be nice for students to have access to both versions. 

On top of that, I also have a final project for my Persuasive Communication class. I set a goal to help promote some other things that would benefit the Lobo Food Pantry for those experiencing hygiene poverty. 

While I was scheming all of this, Cande, Lobo Food Pantry Basic Needs Specialist, had reached out to Free Flow, looking for bulk-purchasing options for menstrual care.  She is in the video below! We touched base and decided it would be best to promote general hygiene items from the Lobo Food Pantry Amazon wish list. On top of that, Free Flow NM has agreed that any monetary donations made from April 28 to May 5 will have a UNM hygiene drive note attached to the donation. This will be used to purchase bulk menstrual products for the university! Check out the organizations below :
